  4. It goes without saying that robust malware protection is a critical factor to take into consideration when choosing an antivirus solution, but something that is almost as important is how efficiently the software performs. Antivirus products that consume too many system resources and create noticeable system drag are annoying, disruptive and may encourage users to disable essential protective features. The best security products are able to provide a high level of malware protection without putting excessive strain on your system’s resources. Independent antivirus software testing organization AV-Comparatives recently released the results of its latest Performance Test, and we’re pleased to report that Emsisoft Anti-Malware walked away with an “Advanced” rating! The testing process In total, 18 security products were evaluated. The testers used PC Mark 10 Professional to measure the impact of each product on system performance while performing everyday, real-world tasks such as browsing websites, copying and downloading files, launching applications, archiving and unarchiving, and installing and uninstalling applications. Each test was repeated several times to maximize statistical precision, with the median score being used as the final result. The tests were performed on a low-end system: a Lenovo G50 machine with an Intel Core i3-4005U CPU, 4GB of RAM and HDD hard disks. Each security product was installed with default settings on a clean Windows 10 RS3 64-Bit system. Emsisoft Anti-Malware achieves “Advanced” rating We’re happy to announce that Emsisoft Anti-Malware scored “Fast” or “Very fast” in seven of the eight testing categories, which ultimately saw us receive an “Advanced” rating from AV-Comparatives. It is important to remember that this test does not reveal anything about the protection capabilities of a security product, only its impact on system performance in quite specific circumstances. With this in mind, it’s essential that you also investigate how effectively a product can safeguard your system against malware before committing to any antivirus solution. If you’re in the market for an effective security product that won’t devour your system resources, feel free to download a trial of Emsisoft Anti-Malware. About AV-Comparatives AV-Comparatives is an independent organization dedicated to evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of security software. The group works closely with a number of academic institutions to provide reliable testing methodologies and create high-quality reports that deliver deep insight into the capabilities of antivirus products. 6. Fresh from our March 2018 AV-Comparatives Malware Test Advanced+ Award, we’re happy to announce that this April, Emsisoft is yet again named a recipient of the coveted VB100 Certification! The VB100 Certification The VB100 certification is a highly sought-after designation due to its rigorous and unbiased evaluation of antivirus security programs. The VB100 certification tests are performed bi-monthly throughout the year by Virus Bulletin, a UK-based organization independently testing antivirus software for more than 20 years. The test not only evaluates the ability of antivirus and anti-malware software programs to perform at a minimum standard, but also its consistency to protect and adapt effectively in the long term. It features a “Reactive and Proactive” (RAP) test that measures how quickly security programs detect new malware. The RAP Score gives a good indication of how quickly the security program detects new malware statically. The VB100 Certification Methodology For the April 2018 test, Virus Bulletin outlines the following criteria to qualify for a VB100 certification: Detect 100% of malware samples listed as ‘In the Wild’ by the WildList Organization Generate no false positives when scanning an extensive test set of clean samples The methodology also stipulates that the product must be tested “out-of-the-box” with its default settings. Currently, the test is run on two platforms: Windows 7 and Windows 10. The Emsisoft VB100 Certification Emsisoft performed exceptionally well with a 100% malware detection rate and zero false positives in both Windows 7 and Windows 10 test platforms; and achieved an above average 89.4% RAP Score among other programs that also passed the test. This is Emsisoft’s second VB100 Certification for 2018. Why This Certification Matters As a minimum, your antivirus and anti-malware program should protect you from all types of malware, defend your PC online and offline, and perform its job consistently day in and day out from existing and emerging threats. Malicious hackers and malware are constantly looking for ways to attack you, and you want malware protection that puts you in a position of security and peace of mind. The VB100 Comparative Test allows you, the consumer, to evaluate which antivirus and anti-malware programs are capable of providing effective malware protection that would best serve you and your needs. Emsisoft has consistently performed well in VB100 certification tests, and our team is working diligently to maintain this designation for our customers. Our latest 2018.4 software update features improved Behavior-based malware detection and support for Windows 10 Redstone 4 (RS4) Update. 8. Emsisoft has once again received top marks from AV-Comparatives! AV-Comparatives, an independent security software testing company, recently published its 2018 Malware Test Report, and we’re happy to announce that Emsisoft has been awarded the coveted Advanced+ Award. Beyond Detection: Malware Protection With the proliferation of increasingly sophisticated malware, detecting them alone is no longer enough. When in the past viruses are the “only” problems to worry about and are simply spotted and blocked, today’s malware variants are advanced enough to avoid detection. It is still important for security software to detect malware, but unlike the days of Internet old, detection now needs to be a part of a more robust and strategic anti-malware program to achieve a truly effective overall system protection. Emsisoft’s multi-layered approach to Internet security offers complete and reliable protection from malware. Emsisoft Anti-Malware blocks, prevents, and eliminates threats, leaving you with the peace of mind that your PC is secure. Emsisoft Achieves Advanced+ Award Malware authors are only getting better at designing and deploying malware attacks, so AV-Comparatives designed a rigorous test to measure the effectiveness and adaptability of security programs, including executing any missed samples for a more complete assessment. The Malware Test focused on security programs’ ability to detect malware offline and online, protect systems online — before, during, and after the execution of malware — and false alarms. Not surprisingly, Emsisoft performed exceptionally well and emerged as a top antivirus and anti-malware software program. With a 98.8% online and offline detection rates, leveraged by a 99.98% online protection rate, Emsisoft is proven to provide the complete protection from multiple attack vectors, in different scenarios. According to AV-Comparatives the results of this latest Malware Protection Test is a great complementary to its Real World Protection Test, from which Emsisoft has excelled as well. We are incredibly proud of our Advanced+ Award. This achievement is only made possible because of our commitment to deliver only the best to our customers. Always with integrity, we simply offer efficient and effective anti-malware, for your computer and you. Who is AV-C AV-Comparatives is an Austria-based organization that performs IT security product testing known for their independent and “real-world” testing methodology. Evaluations by AV-Comparatives are highly trusted by consumers and security industry experts alike, including PCMag and CNET editors. 9. As smartphones and mobile devices play an increasingly important role in our day to day lives, it’s only natural that the amount of malware targeting these systems continues to grow. To combat this threat, a number of developers have released security apps designed to prevent malware infection but the level of quality of most of them is somewhat questionable, to say the least. To address this issue, independent antivirus software testing group AV-Comparatives began testing Android security products in 2017. The results of this year’s round of testing are in, and we’re excited to report that Emsisoft Mobile Security scored top marks! Testing Methodology More than 200 security products were tested against 2,000 of the most common Android malware threats of 2017. When such recognizable malware samples are used in testing, a decent anti-malware app should feasibly be able to achieve detection rates of at least 90 percent without too much hassle. Testing took place on an automated Android testing framework on Nexus 5 devices running Android 6.0.1. This allowed testers to create realistic conditions without going through the headache of manually testing thousands of malware samples against the 200+ antivirus products. All the products and their respective malware definition libraries were fully updated prior to testing. If a product offered to activate additional security functions, these features were enabled. Each device was also allowed to connect to the Internet to access cloud services. Emsisoft Mobile Security achieves 100% detection rate We’re happy to report that Emsisoft Mobile Security successfully caught every single piece of malware that came its way, scoring a flawless detection rate of 100 percent with zero false alarms! However, not all the antivirus products fared so well. In fact, of the 200+ applications tested, only 84 were able to achieve a detection rate of 30 percent or higher! Seventy-nine of the tested security apps detected less than 30 percent of the Android malware samples or had a high false alarm rate, while a further 41 products were removed from the Play Store altogether in the two months following the testing due to being buggy, unsafe or ineffective. What do the results mean? The results are evidence that the mobile security market can be tricky to navigate. Google’s relatively relaxed screening process means it’s very easy for just about anybody to upload an app to the Play Store and market it as the next greatest security tool. The report also highlights the need to be extra wary when looking for reputable mobile products. Most of the apps tested had a review score of 4 or higher on the Play Store, despite the majority of them offering lackluster protection. We’re proud to see Emsisoft Mobile Security achieving such great results amidst a sea of decidedly dubious antivirus products. Quality protection is our number one goal, and we’ll continue to work on crafting quality products that provide you, our customers, with the high level of security you need to keep yourself safe online. About AV-Comparatives Austrian-based AV-Comparatives is an independent group devoted to testing the effectiveness of antivirus software. The organization provides high-quality, freely accessible reports that provide valuable insight into the performance of various security products on a range of operating systems. Products that score highly on AV-Comparatives tests can generally be trusted to provide a good level of protection against modern digital threats. 10. The old combined 32&64 bit installer you are referring to was using InnoSetup installer technology. Unfortunately Innosetup comes with a number of limitations and security concerns so we decided to switch to the more common MSI (Microsoft Installer) platform. MSI, however, does not support combined 32 and 64 bit installers, which is why we had to separate them. The second thing to mention is that the default download (big button) will now provide a very small web installer that determines the platform and then downloads the correct 32 or 64 bit MSI installer. You can still download the combined Innosetup version ("Combined EXE") but we can't make any guarantees on how long we will be able to provide it in the future.
  11. Emsisoft Emergency Kit is a free malware scanner that allows you to scan and clean infected machines. It’s fully portable, which means it doesn’t require installation and can be run directly from portable devices such as USB drives. 12. A few days ago independent IT security research group Virus Bulletin released the results of its latest round of testing. We’re thrilled to announce that Emsisoft Anti-Malware was once again awarded the VB100 certification! Read on to learn more about the testing methodology and what the award means for Emsisoft. VB100 testing methodology With a history spanning more than 20 years, the VB100 test provides consumers with an easy way to tell if their prospective antivirus software is capable of handling current threats without mistakenly blocking any legitimate software along the way. To qualify for the VB100 award, an antivirus product needs to be able to do two things: Detect 100 percent of malware samples on the WildList (a massive curated list of known malware). Generate no false positives when scanning a clean set of 450,000 files that are used by popular legitimate software. For the February 2018 iteration, testing took place over three consecutive weeks. Antivirus products were installed on fresh installations of Windows 7 and Windows 10 and updated prior to testing. In the first part of the test, the products were connected to the internet, which allowed for real-time cloud lookups. During the ‘proactive’ phase of the test, the products did not have internet access in order to measure how effectively they could detect malware in a static state. Emsisoft Anti-Malware awarded the VB100 We were delighted to see that Emsisoft Anti-Malware passed the test with flying colours. Our flagship product detected 100 percent of the malware on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 without generating any false positives, which meant we qualified for VB100 certification! We’re proud to add this accolade to our growing collection of awards and will continue to work hard to provide our customers with the best antivirus software possible. About Virus Bulletin Based in the UK, Virus Bulletin has been independently testing antivirus software and releasing comparative reports for more than 20 years. The VB100 certification denotes that a security product is able to deal with the latest known threats without raising any false positives – two factors that will likely factor heavily into the equation when choosing an endpoint security solution. Antivirus software that is VB100 certified is considered capable of providing reliable malware protection. Click here to read the Virus Bulletin report in full, or click here to check out some of the other awards we’ve won in the past. Have a super (malware-free) day! 14. The feedback from our users was loud and clear: “Please reduce the number of notification popups to make the software less noisy.” So, our team sat down to think about how we could make our notifications less intrusive while still providing our users with as much information as possible. After all, we want our users to always be in control of what’s going on in order to maximize protection. Over the past month we worked out a series of improvements, some big and some small. The most significant one is a new option in the Behavior Blocker alert settings that allows you to limit notifications to actual malware alerts only, while hiding all the online reputation checks for programs that appear suspicious to Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Additionally, we made sure that you can disable most types of notifications permanently now (such as the recommended security readings) if you don’t see value in them. This, together with some more minor user experience improvements, will hopefully reduce the noise of the software to a level that satisfies even the most extreme requirements. All 2018.2 improvements in a nutshell Emsisoft Anti-Malware New: Behavior Blocker alert option “Auto resolve, notifications for threats only”, which replaces the previous default setting “Auto resolve, with lookup notifications”. New: Ability to permanently disable “Recommended reading” notifications. New: Shortcut button “Fix now” to resolve any non- or partially- protected product states. Several minor UI/UX improvements for a smoother workflow, i.e. reworded malware notifications. Improved compatibility with Windows Security Center. Several minor tweaks and fixes. Emsisoft Enterprise Console New: Behavior Blocker alert option “Auto resolve, notifications for threats only”. Several minor tweaks and fixes. How to obtain the new version As always, so long as you have auto-updates enabled in the software, you will receive the latest version automatically during your regularly scheduled updates, which are hourly by default. New users, please download the full installer from our product pages. 15. After being in service for more than a decade, it’s now time for our old Emsisoft License Center to retire. Its successor carries the name MyEmsisoft and is available – who would have guessed – at https://my.emsisoft.com. New web development standards required us to re-develop the portal from scratch and will also ensure that it’s future proof for many exciting things to come. For now, the functionality of MyEmsisoft is quite manageable. After logging in with your existing Emsisoft user account credentials, you’ll see the following available panels: Overview: Lists all of your assigned active devices with Emsisoft Anti-Malware installed. New here is the ability to check the protection status of each computer. You’ll see a red warning if a device hasn’t updated in a while or when its license expired. Personal Licenses: Lists all Emsisoft Anti-Malware license keys assigned with your user account, including their start and end dates. The menu on the right provides shortcuts to renewal purchase and referral rewards program options. Clicking on the arrow at the left end of each row opens a list with all devices that are using the license key. New here is the ability to clear an assigned seat of your license key, which is handy if you want to move your license to new hardware. My Account: Click your user name at the right top of the page to view and edit your user account settings. Here, you can not only select which newsletter channels you want to subscribe to, but also change your preferred language and password. MyEmsisoft adapts dynamically to your available screen size and displays well on mobile phones, too. Check out the new MyEmsisoft! The new MyEmsisoft portal View the full article
  16. Independent antivirus software testing group AV-Comparatives recently released the results of its annual IT Security Survey and we’re delighted to see some positive trends regarding Emsisoft’s position in the North American market. The report is based on an online survey that was carried out by AV-Comparatives from 20 December 2017 to 10 January 2018. A total of 2,769 people from around the globe participated in the survey, which included a range of questions related to antivirus software and the industry in general. Emsisoft growing in North America For Emsisoft, the highlight of the report is that our market share in North America is growing. According to the survey, Emsisoft is now the eighth most commonly used antivirus product in North America – three places higher than last year. This puts Emsisoft ahead of some big industry names, including McAfee and Trend Micro, among others. The most commonly used antivirus products in North America include: Bitdefender Kaspersky Lab ESET Avast Microsoft Symantec Webroot Emsisoft MalwareBytes AVIRA McAfee Trend Micro Emsisoft also secured top ten positions in the most commonly used antivirus products in Europe, Asia and, for the first time in 3 years, also in South/Central America at #7. Other interesting facts Of those who responded to the survey… 33 percent reported that their antivirus had blocked malware within the last seven days. 30.6 percent do not use any security product to protect their mobile phones. 3.5 percent said their antivirus software had failed to protect their system within the last week. 1.7 percent do not use any security solution. 45.3 percent use Google Chrome and 30.1 percent use Mozilla Firefox A step in the right direction The IT Security Survey tends to attract fairly knowledgeable respondents (in the 2017 iteration, more than two-thirds of respondents classified themselves as ‘enthusiasts’ or ‘professionals’), so it’s fair to say the results represent some expert opinions. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we’re also aware that the battle is far from over. Here at Emsisoft, we’ll continue to work on refining our product to provide our customers with the protection they need to keep their systems safe from the bad guys. 17. We had to turn off XP updates because the latest scan engine and its signatures are no longer compatible with it. Instead of pretending that we could protect you from malware (which we effectively can't because XP is full of holes and flaws that aren't gonna be fixed at all) we would rather strongly recommend you to upgrade your computer. If that is for any reason impossible and means that you can't use our software anymore at all, we're happy to issue a refund for the remaining period.
  18. Jumping into the new year, we’re proud to announce the first significant update in our monthly release cycle that carries the major version “2018”. The main goal for our development team this month was to streamline and improve the user experience of our most important defence wall against new and unknown malware threats: The Behavior Blocker. When you open the main user interface of Emsisoft Anti-Malware, you’ll notice that we have merged the panel of the Application Rules with that of the Behavior Blocker. This was a logical move as the two are closely related to the same thing: Defining which of the active programs shall be monitored, are trustworthy, or should be prevented from starting up. Instead of manually creating rules for specific program paths, you can now easily double-click one of the active processes to define a new “allow”, “monitor” (default) or “block” rule. The new application list also shows nicely which programs are excluded from monitoring as it integrates the Exclusions list too. In the same set of improvements we’re launching a new feature to create application rule templates that professional users can now define via the Emsisoft Enterprise Console. In situations where a specific program needs to be excluded from protection across the entire network, or when a specific unwanted program needs to be blocked from running globally, it’s now an easy task to implement that with templates that also support wildcards and environment variables. All 2018.1 improvements in a nutshell Emsisoft Anti-Malware Redesigned Behavior Blocker panel with application rules. New: Redesigned Behavior Blocker panel that combines application rules with active application processes. New: Simplified application rules editor that integrates with the Monitoring Exclusions list. New: Application rule templates with wildcard- and environment variables support, to be defined via Emsisoft Enterprise Console. New: Ability to connect Emsisoft Anti-Malware with Emsisoft Enterprise Console via script for automation. Several minor tweaks and fixes. Emsisoft Enterprise Console New: Application rule templates with wildcard- and environment variables support. New: Ability to connect Emsisoft Anti-Malware via script for automation. Improved: Status and error reporting for quick commands. Several minor tweaks and fixes. How to obtain the new version As always, so long as you have auto-updates enabled in the software, you will receive the latest version automatically during your regularly scheduled updates, which are hourly by default. New users, please download the full installer from our product pages. Note to Enterprise users: If you have chosen to receive “Delayed” updates in the Update settings for your clients, they will receive the new software version no earlier than 30 days after the regular “Stable” availability. This gives you time to perform internal compatibility tests before a new version gets rolled out to your clients automatically. Have a great and well-protected day! View the full article
  19. The good people over at Virus Bulletin, an information security portal and antivirus testing group, recently announced the results of their latest VB100 Comparative Review. We’re happy to report that Emsisoft Anti-Malware was awarded the VB100 certification! Qualifying for VB100 certification Unlike other antivirus tests that have tiered awards depending on a product’s performance, there are no silver or bronze medals when it comes to the VB100 – you either get the certification or you don’t. To qualify for VB100 certification, an antivirus product has to be able to: Block ALL files on the WildList. The WildList is Virus Bulletin’s regularly updated and carefully curated list of known malicious software that has been seen in the wild. Generate zero false positives. The Virus Bulletin team put together a set of 450,000 benign files taken from widely used programs. If an antivirus product incorrectly detects any of the files as malicious, it is ineligible for VB100 certification. The latest round of testing took place on systems running clean, fully updated installations of both Windows 7 and Windows 10. Throughout the testing, all products had internet access to allow for cloud-based scanning, apart from during the ‘reactive and proactive’ component of the test, which measures how effectively a product can proactively detect malware when disconnected from the internet. Emsisoft Anti-Malware awarded VB100 certification Emsisoft Anti-Malware was more than up to the challenge and kept the test environment spotlessly clean of all digital threats. On both Windows 7 and Windows 10, our flagship product detected every piece of malware on the WildList while generating no false positives, thereby qualifying Emsisoft Anti-Malware for VB100 certification! We’re proud of this achievement and happy to see further proof that Emsisoft Anti-Malware is capable of delivering high-level protection in the real world as well as in stringent testing environments such as the one created here by Virus Bulletin. Our goal will always be to provide an efficient product that makes no compromises when it comes to protecting our customers’ PCs. About Virus Bulletin Virus Bulletin is a UK-based organization that specializes in independent antivirus product software testing while also providing a hub for all things information security. The VB100 certification initiative has been running for 20 years and provides detailed information to help buyers make a more informed decision when it comes to selecting an endpoint security solution. The VB100 certification has come to be seen as a mark of quality; a product that is VB100 certified can be considered trustworthy and capable of providing reliable malware protection. 20.
  24. On January 2nd, a major security vulnerability affecting Intel and other chipmakers came to light. These flaws, which were discovered much earlier by several researchers but kept under a non-disclosure agreement to allow time to coordinate a proper response, could allow potential exploits to access sensitive system memory information without permission. As a result, all major tech companies including Intel, AMD, ARM, Microsoft, Google and Amazon are rushing to provide emergency patches before these vulnerabilities, dubbed Meltdown and Spectre, can be exploited by malicious programs and cause widespread harm. But what makes these vulnerabilities so dangerous, how can you you ensure your devices will be protected, and what is Emsisoft doing to keep its customers safe? What are Meltdown and Spectre? Publicly disclosed by The Register on Tuesday, these critical vulnerabilities, dubbed Meltdown and Spectre, could allow malicious programs unauthorized access to privileged information stored in the system memory, such as passwords, login keys or cached files from other software. Meltdown, which only affects Intel chips produced since 1995, effectively removes a barrier within the system memory, allowing regular user processes direct access to sensitive information stored within the kernel. The Spectre vulnerability affects all chip vendors, including Intel, AMD and ARM, and tricks applications into leaking their memory contents. While this is harder to exploit by cyber criminals, it is also proving much harder to fix for hardware and software makers. As a result of these vulnerabilities, personal computers, mobile devices and cloud services across all operating systems are susceptible to a potential malicious attack. What can I do to keep my devices secure? The most important step is to ensure that your devices are updated with the latest available updates from your hardware and software vendors. Unfortunately, the vulnerabilities cannot be fixed via a simple firmware update by the chip makers. Instead, a combination of firmware and software updates is necessary to fix the majority of the security flaws. Both hardware and software vendors such as Microsoft, Google and Intel have released or are in the processes of providing patches to their customers. Given the severity of the situation, Microsoft took an unusual step and released an emergency patch for Windows 10 (Version 1709) on January 3rd, rather than wait for their usual “Patch Tuesday” to provide a fix. The update should automatically be applied to Windows 10 machines via Windows Update. Alternatively, you can manually download and install it here. Microsoft said in a newly created support article that older operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows 8 are also receiving the security patches. How is Emsisoft affected by these vulnerabilities? Due to the urgency of providing a fix, Microsoft decided to block the installation of the updates on systems with incompatible antivirus software, in an attempt to avoid potential blue screen of death errors. Security vendors had little time to react, but our team was quick to verify that our software is fully compatible without any further changes, tested the fix across different Windows instances and pushed out an update that sets the required registry key and allows the installation of the necessary security patch. We therefore urge all of our customers to manually trigger a software update of their Emsisoft security product if they haven’t done so already. In addition, we strongly advise against the use of multiple AVs, as the registry flag is not product specific and can, if an incompatible AV is installed in parallel with Emsisoft Anti-Malware, still cause a blue screen error. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep our customers updated on new developments or further measures that need to be taken. Rest assured that our malware protection will continue to keep you safe from all types of online threats as you’d expect it. Have a great, malware-free day! View the full article
  25. Another day, another award! Independent antivirus software testing group Av-Comparatives have released the results of their recent Whole Product Dynamic “Real-World” Protection Test and we’re happy to report that Emsisoft Anti-Malware has once again received the highest award possible. “Real-world” protection testing Unlike some types of antivirus tests that tend to focus on a particular component of security software (typically signatures or heuristic file scanning), Av-Comparatives’ most recent experiment took a more holistic approach. The award-winning Whole Product Dynamic “Real-World” Protection Test allows security suites to use any and all protection features (URL blockers, content filters, behavior blockers and more) to prevent infection at any stage of the process. This is intended to reflect the expanding scope of IT security. To simulate a real-world environment, the AV-Comparatives team compiled an extensive list of test cases made up of 1,769 malicious websites and malware that currently pose a risk to ordinary users. Every security product was installed on an internet-connected test computer, which was manually updated every day, and every antivirus suite was updated before being subjected to the malware. Testing took place between July and November 2017, and the results have just recently been released. Emsisoft walks away with the top award We are delighted to see that our flagship product was more than up to meeting the demands of the challenging test environment. Not only did Emsisoft Anti-Malware achieve an impressive 99.1 percent protection rate, it also excelled in the false alarm component of the test, which is a critical part of delivering a smooth user experience. With a false positive rating of just 11 (lower is better), Emsisoft came in well below the average of 18 and was miles below some products that raised as many as 132 false flags during testing. Ultimately, scoring strongly during the protection and false positive testing helped Emsisoft Anti-Malware earn the highest accolade possible – the AV-Comparatives Advanced+ Award for the Real-World Protection Test December 2017. We’re not in it for the glory but, as always, we are proud to see our products receive recognition for their protection capabilities. Regardless of the awards we win, we’ll always strive to provide our customers with industry-leading protection. About AV-Comparatives AV-Comparatives is an independent, Austrian-based group that specializes in assessing antivirus software. The organization regularly releases detailed reports to provide consumers with the information they need to make an informed decision when it comes to choosing a security suite. The AV-Comparatives Real-World Protection Test is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive tests of its kind. Suffice to say, products that score highly on this test can safely be trusted to provide high-quality protection against a variety of digital threats. Get the full details of the July-November 2017 Real-World Protection Test here, or hop over to our awards page for a glimpse of some of the other accolades we’ve won in the past.
