  1. You are correct in that XP and & connect to the net using the same internet connection, via Ethernet cable and cable modem. I will check to see if the name keeps changing and let you know. Happy 4th! J T
  2. Hello Arthur, Yes I do, as I stated the machine is a dual boot one running XP Pr0 and Win 7 64. That said, the two OS exist on separate partitions so they are isolated from each other. If there is some interaction between them I don't understand how that is occuring. Thank you! J T
  3. Hello, I have a dual boot system with XP & 7 -64. Each time I boot Win 7 OA tells me it found a new netowrk and I OK it and allow it. I can't get the program to remember that the network it found is on my home machine! I do not get the message when I boot to XP Pro SP3. Using version 6.0.0.1736 with auto updates ON.The MB is an Asus Rampage Exterme and I am uising the 2nd of two ethernet connection for my internet access. Love the program and the protection it provides! Thank you all in advance. J T
  4. Christian, I am now able to the the traffic indicator to function. I removed and re-installed OA, this time during the install I checked the box that mentioned something about a net connection. I believe on the first install I didn't check that option, don't ask me why! Now I guess I can go back in and turn all the 'termservices" back OFF. Thanks again, Tinsby
  5. HI Christian, well I did that and I see 3 Remote Desktop Services listed! One is for local system and the other two say "Network Service" They are all set to MANUAL already. I manually started all of them and rebooted and still get no action in the OA display. Thanks appreciate your help! Tinsby
  6. Hi Christian, I had to do it from a C;\ prompt to get it to stay open long enough. Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] C:\>sc query termservice SERVICE_NAME: termservice TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS STATE : 1 STOPPED WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 1077 (0x435) SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0) CHECKPOINT : 0x0 WAIT_HINT : 0x0 There you go! I also did a bit of research and found commands to enable the service, however none of the work. One was: sc config TermService start= auto & the other net start TermService The article mentioned a registry hack to allow it to be enabled but I haven't tried it, I'll wait to hear from you. Seems odd that it did work before I formatted and re-installed 7. Here is that registry entry that was suggested: reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server" /v TSEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f Again I haven't run it, don't see why I should have to but if that's what it takes I'll do it. Regards, Tinsby
  7. Hello, Just re-installed Win 7 and the free OA program. The graphic that shows the traffic in and out of the machine doesn't work. When I click on it it says " No Active Interfaces" yet I have a good internet connection. I have the indocator enabled in 7 to show the icon and notifications. I know the indicator worked when I used Avast but Avast also made the machine crash so out it went and I formatted the drive so it's all clean. The virus scanner is the free one from AVG. I have used OA for years with great success but I can't get the RED | GREEN indicator to move. What's up with that? Thank you in advance! Tinsby
  8. I was mystified as to why it needs an internet connection to do so. The window says it needs to verify license information. It's the free version so what is to be gained by that exercise? I don't remember ever getting any such key or nunber or anything else, of course this is version 4.0. If I do decide to install the newer version, I assume I need to shut down the version 4.0 during the install. I want all the settings that I am using now in v 4.0 to be saved in the new install, or will I lose them to the new one? Thank you, J T
  9. Using version 4 and am now getting a minidump error caused by the OADriver.sys / OA Helper Driver. Can I reinstall v4 to repair it, assuming I can find v4 or must I upgrade to v5? Thanks, J T
  10. If I upgrade to v5 xx from V4.0.015 will I lose all my settings from the old version? I tried to install v 5 and wasn't connected to the 'net. I got a message asking me if I wanted to reset my connection and try again. I do not know if the message came from OA or another program. Is it necessary to have a 'net connection to install the FREE version? I didn't want some other program accessing the 'net without any firewall protection. The message box never said that the attempted connection was from OA. Thank you, J T
