I have Emsisoft Anti-Malware...I think the old one was v4.7...The last major update was quite large and crashed the whole program, thus the can't connect message. I followed the advice and uninstalled my old version, rebooted, then installed the link he gave me to v5.0. I now have Emsisoft v.5.0 installed.
The question mark was in reference to the fact, that the new version was in the midst of scanning, and did not know if would complete. It did, without finding anything, so it works quite well now.
Computer is an old HP Media Center type running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3 v 5.1.2, Platform, x86, Standard Windows Firewall.
This is the first time, I have had a problem with a major update crashing the program and not working.
