  1. Hi - here's the new ComboFix log file. The machine hasn't been used much in the past week, but it appears to be running ok & there haven't been any problems with IE. Also, CCleaner is working as is Revo Uninstaller.
  2. Hi - followed your instructions regarding Java. Here are the log files.
  3. Hi - here's the new combofix log file. I'm not noticing anything strange anymore, whatever was screwing with IE in the background hasn't been since Thurs., but then again it hasn't been used much, either. She has some videos that need to be burned to dvd - would that cause any issues?

  5. I think I may have gotten rid of it, but here is the combofix report just in case.
  6. Good news - looks like I got it taken care of. And didn't have to reinstall the OS. Thanks so much for your help!
  7. sorry, still working on backing up all her important files - she's never backed anything up so its taking awhile
  8. thanks for the info, will give the cleaning a shot once things are backed up
  9. She has a Dell, I have an HP. Her boyfriend has the exact same machine she has, so I would be able to use his.
  10. I had a BartPE disc that I had created to reinstall XP that I could update with all the current OS updates, but don't have anything like that for 7. Could you point me to instructions to create a disc/USB stick? Want to do this before I attempt to fix my daughter's machine. Would be helpful to do the same for Vista since my finace's machine runs that OS.
  11. I'm working on fixing my daughter's laptop. She has something called Disk Antivirus Professional that popped up on her this afternoon which shut down her antivirus (Security Essentials) & firewall (Windows). I've at least managed to get them both working again, but Security Essentials wasn't able to get rid of anything - just puts the files into quarantine but won't delete anything. Then I ran Malwarebytes & that got rid of some, but not all, so now I ran EEK & found Gen:Variant.Symmi.10822 (B) which it says it can't delete. And Malwarebytes keeps popping up a notification that it has blocked an outgoing connection to a suspicious website whether the browser is open or not. Any help would be appreciated.
