  1. There is no download exe for 1100. Paid users get the file that the update consists of via auto updates.
  2. Please see here for pc's that will not update
  3. Learning mode is not meant to be left on indefinitely. You could be putting yourself at risk if you leave it on all the time. Do you have the things in your OA programs list set as trusted and green in colour?
  4. It may help put Avast in the OA exclusions list and vice versa. Give it a try and let us know.
  5. Bob I'm just glad to hear you have things working okay now. We learn as we go along with computers Catch you later.
  6. Are you saying that you had Private Firewall installed (but turned off) at the same time you were trying to run OA?
  7. Hi Malik I certainly hope I didn't make you feel 'ungifted' or anything like that, it certainly wasn't my intention. As for me being remotely like any of your descriptions (a techie know-it-all) I am a grandmother of five who has had to pick up things along the way as you are wanting to do. As I am not a developer I cannot say the tech terms of HOW it protects only that the code used means OA is able to pick out known patterns that malware are likely to use. Coupled with a list of registry locations that can be targeted it makes for a pretty solid protection. The 'run safer' abilty that OA offers is another way it can protect you, it can be read about it here
  8. Can you look in the programs list and see if Outlook and Firefox were green in colour and listed as trusted. Also if when you try to connect and then look in OA history does it show anything aas being blocked (red in colour) How do you connect to the internet? (wired or wireless etc) Could you connect to the internet using Internet Explorer?
  9. Both of those threads show that OA 'did the business' and flagged the nasty. We could go all techie but to most folk it means little, and this area of the forum is more for problems/issues when running OA. Perhaps read up a bit on HIPS and Sandboxes. I will say it isn't something you can absorb over a cup of coffee! Bottom line is OA protects you.
  10. Did you do a 'trust all' install? Also what operating system are you using and also which build and flavor of OA you tried to install.
  11. I can understand why Catprincess is asking you to exclude all the mbam folder. However I find it very strange that you say that if you do not exclude mbam, and you download flash through your download manager when you have OA installed, you get a trojan warning from mbam. This does not happen if you trust the IDM files. If you trust the IDM files mbam does not flag flash as a trojan. The above only happens with OA installed. Very strange
  12. Questions about it were asked in posts if it was expected behaviour but no dev replied. Had there been a reply saying it was not expected behaviour it would have then been bug reported.
  13. It would help with troubleshooting if you state your operating system and browser used. Also what other security software you have running.
  14. Too much green tea, I must take more water with it
  15. When you install Windows Firewall it turns off Windows firewall.
  16. Just wondering if it's possible for you to access 'history' at all. Then you could select the clear history button, reboot and see if there is any improvement. (don't worry about me being a 'sheep expert' )
  17. Have you tried putting Emsisoft Anti Malware into OA excusions and adding OA to Emsisofts exclusions? Reboot afterwards and see if things have improved.
  18. Micheal I can see no way in which ctrlaltdelete has tried to belittle or demean you. I can only assume your lack of manners is because of your frustration in trying to use the program. When you do the wizard are you trying to set up how you want them to run from within the wizard? Are you rebooting into learning mode after the wizard? (because that is when you can set up all your settings as you want them) It seems quite logical to me that if you have made a bit of a screw up with your upgrade it may indeed be best do a clean install. You are aware that you could have saved all your settings in 4.5 and restored them in version 5?
  19. Perhaps a read here may help you
  20. You can download the new version from here, run the setup, and select 'upgrade' option. Or you can wait for automatic online updates which will happens over the next week.
  21. You can add them yourself by right-clicking anywhere in the OA programs list, selecting add, and browsing to the file to add it manually. If you add them, does it cure your problem?
  22. Sorry there is no option to do that. Most people agree the new alert boxes are easier to read and understand. Hopefully you will get used to them. Your English is quite good
  23. Are you saying BitDefender has a firewall included? If so you cannot use OA and BitDefender together as they both include a firewall.
  24. When you install OA are you using the 'trust all' option? Have you excluded OA from Bit Defender and PeerBlock? Is Bitdefender just the anti-virus, and not the one that includes a firewall?
  25. Can you give more information so that someone can advise you. What is your operating system and service pack? What other security software do you have installed? Which version of OA are you trying to use? (Free, Premium or ++)
