  1. Thanks for the reply, Fabian. I'm using the free version. Automatic updates are set to "every day" but there's no trace of white/black list updates in the History - OA checks for updates but since the release of version 5.1.1.1383 it has not found anything and when I manually check it says it is up to date. System Information: Win XP Pro SP3 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289 (Behaviour/Script Shield removed) Online Armor Free 5.1.1.1383 (Web Shield disabled) HostMan/HostsServer 3.2.73 (MVPS HOSTS) Norton DNS v2 *Avast!/OA mutually excluded
  2. Hi, Since the release of version 5.1.1.1383, OA has not found any blacklist/whitelist updates. I set the option to "Every day" but even when I manually check for updates OA says that it's up to date - and it used to find at least one update per day with the previous version. Has any sort of blacklist/whitelist update become available since October 24th?
  3. Hi muaystan, According to this post (#4, andrewf): Online Armor does not support Windows Vista x64. The only way you can use updates is to do an upgrade or clean install using the latest installer Cheers, N.
  4. Hi kgburk, Each time OA updates black/white lists on a daily basis, the History tab shows both the "New treat database has been downloaded and installed" and the "New version of Online Armor components has been downloaded and installed" entries (sometimes more than once). This is normal: Created: 09/10/2011 11.23.40 Summary: Automatic Update successful Description: New threat database has been downloaded and installed Event type: Auto update(11) Event action: None(1) ------- Created: 09/10/2011 11.23.42 Summary: Automatic Update successful Description: New version of Online Armor components has been downloaded and installed Event type: Auto update(11) Event action: None(1) Moreover, OA shows also a balloon tip for "New version of Online Armor components has been downloaded and installed". Regards, N.
  5. As for my original post, unexpectedly the same issue happened today when I was trying to download the new build of CCleaner from Piriform servers (http://www.piriform....wnload/standard) - unfortunately OA debugging was turned off, but this time I was able to check the PID and see what program the History entry refers to: Created: 04/10/2011 21.18.46 Summary: Program Guard: kernel event Description: OADriver: - 329 SignalAndWaitForAnswerEx - TIMEOUT. pid = 1500 tid = 1596 Event type: Kernel event(26) Event action: None(1) Processes: PID 1500: AvastSvc.exe It's the Avast! AV main service. Also, this time there were no custom block rules for Firefox. ---- Win XP Pro SP3 Avast! 6. Hi thebigeast, I wrote in my previous post that I'm having some slowdowns and hangs in Firefox 7. At first I didn't relate those issues to OA Free. The main reason was that when I disabled OA I didn't notice any difference and those browser's issues were still present. However yesterday I disabled OA's Web Shield (from the tray icon menu), I cleared the browser's cache using CCleaner and then I rebooted the system. Firefox 7 now seems to be working fine: no slowdowns, no hangs. Also, this morning I updated to v.7.0.1 Hope this could help, N. Win XP Pro SP3 Online Armor Free 5.1.0.1331 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289 Firefox 7.0.1
  7. I'm experiencing a lot of browser hangs too (FF7). Precisely it's what you called "hick-ups". It's not related to OA Free though. Win XP Pro SP3 Online Armor Free 5.1.0.1331 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289 Firefox 7.0
  8. I'm having the same issue. Yesterday I received both the "Bad Gateway" and the "a2wl.dat is corrupted" error messages for several times. I use the daily auto-update function, however, this morning same result also with manual updates. The only exception is this new error message: Created: 25/09/2011 11.19.20* Summary: Automatic Update failed Description: OA: Wrong response format Event type: Auto update(11) Event action: None(1) *Italian time ------ Win XP Pro SP3 Online Armor Free 5.1.0.1331 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289
  9. Thanks again. I will try to retrieve more information the next time I download a new version of the installation file - I suspect there's some hidden process involved in the task and this perhaps could explain why the "processes" field of the History's event is empty (I am speculating) : Summary: Program Guard: kernel event Description: OADriver: - 655 SignalAndWaitForAnswerEx - TIMEOUT. pid = 1500 tid = 1684 Event type: Kernel event(26) Event action: None(1) Processes:
  10. No, it was disabled. Do you know what does this mean: OADriver: - 655 SignalAndWaitForAnswerEx - TIMEOUT. pid = 1500 tid = 1684 At first I thought the problem was related to OA contacting OASIS...
  11. Yes catprincess, but only for Firefox: *Port 12080: Avast! Proxy
  12. Thanks catprincess and thanks stapp. Unfortunately Process Explorer doesn't show anything with PID=1500 (only 1508 which is an Avast! service). I tried again to download the file and check the PE window to no avail. I suppose this is because OA hangs only the first time I try to download a new Defraggler's installation file. With all the other attempts after the first, no hangs on download. The odd thing is that it has only happened with Defraggler's installation file and it has also happened every time I tried to downolad the file with my father's laptop (some software/OS, different hardware).
  13. I wrote "when I download a new version". I mean, when I download it from their website using my browser - please, for details see my original message.
  14. Hello, When I download a new version of Defraggler from Piriform servers (hxxp://www.piriform....wnload/standard), the whole system hangs for about a minute. Then the download starts but soon after it fails. If I try again (with the same installation file), everything works fine. This happens with every new release of Defraggler, but only the first time I try to download a brand-new installation file. I suppose that OA (with the whole system) hangs only the first time it tries to recognize the file using OASIS in real time. Next time, no issue. This has started with OA 5.x When OA hangs, the History tab shows this event: Summary: Program Guard: kernel event Description: OADriver: - 655 SignalAndWaitForAnswerEx - TIMEOUT. pid = 1500 tid = 1684 Event type: Kernel event(26) Event action: None(1) Processes: -------- Win XP Pro SP3 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289 Online Armor Free 5.1.0.1331 (Security software mutually excluded) Firefox 6.0.2 Kind regards, N.
  15. You're welcome, queenslander. If in the future you will follow one of the above suggestions and it solve the issue, just let us know. Cheers, N.
  16. Hello, Another quick note to let you know that the little issue I reported here (OA not remembering Learning Mode after Microsoft updates + reboot) seems solved - fingers crossed Kind regards, N.
  17. When you enable Banking Mode, Online Armor will allow your computer to connect to only Trusted or Protected domains (including bank and/or financial institution websites) - any connections to sites that are not listed as trusted or protected (in Domains) are automatically blocked. I use both the Avast! and OA free versions so I cannot check by myself if it really works and blocks all the other connections, but a member of the Emsisoft Team will answer your questions very soon with more useful advices and details. Cheers, N.
  18. I'm not sure - this is the reason why I said you should see what happens.
  19. If my previous suggestion doesn't work try adding to the exclusion list: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\Setup
  20. Hi queenslander, Perhaps you could try excluding only the virus database folders and see what happens. For Win XP , if I'm not wrong, the folders to exclude should be: C:\Programmi\AVAST Software\Avast\defs *don't forget to include also subfolders. Cheers, N.
  21. Thank you, Andrey. Regarding those two items in History at each boot, is it a "purely cosmetic" issue?
  22. Hello, Just a quick note to let you know that at each boot these two items (OA components) are shown in History: (In both images I've also included the bottom line which describes the actions). In the previous version, the same thing used to happen with OADump.exe: http://support.emsis...__fromsearch__1 System Info: Win XP Pro SP3 Avast! Free AV 6.0.1289 Online Armor Free 5.1.0.1331 With the exception of blacklist and whitelist items, If a program update (let's say a module or a new program version) is available, will OA Free automatically download and install it or just notify the user (as usual)? Kind regards, N.
  23. Hi Screeno, The same thing happened to me in the past. I solved the issue disabling Learning Mode, then subsequently enabling and disabling it again - one after the other. On the next reboot OA didn't enter Learning Mode anymore - when it is not supposed to. Cheers, N.
  24. Thank you, Catprincess. I'm going to set a password to protect OA on my father's laptop and I was worried he could forget the password. Cheers, N.
