  1. I was reading the recent EIS notification re Double Pulsar malware and while reading it online with Chrome, there was an attempt at an exploit in the folder \Downloads\Emsi\ but fortunately EIS stopped the exploit.
  2. Thanks, Arthur. I have no special knowledge on what is or is not a malicious site. But I--and many chess players--have been accessing the site for at least 4 years without issue. How do the two "malicious site" citations get into your database, e.g., what does it take to be listed as a malicious site and does Emsisoft show false positives?
  3. EIS is blocking as a malware site ABROK.EU but others are telling me that there is nothing wrong with the site. What is the basis for EIS "XYZ is a known malware site"?
  4. Jeremy: Thanks for the clarification.
  5. On 1 of 4 systems for which I have a 2-year license, 10 days ago (6/8/17) I got "Component not recognized".. I uninstalled/reinstalled successfully. Same thing happened on that system today 6/18/17. However, this time license not recognized and free 30-day period expired. So I no longer have a firewall on 1 of 4 systems and cannot use that system.
  6. Arthur: How does one know how EIS is configured: public or private mode?
  7. "More advanced protection measures include blocking outbound SMB requests via firewalls, so local computers can’t query remote SMB servers." How does one do that in EIS?
  8. Ken, Thanks for the rapid reply. I do use PDF Exchange software. So I take it that the folder is harmless. I did turn off updating of the Tracker software as that caught the attention of EIS.
  9. In c:\ProgramData I have found a subfolderfolder called \Tracker Software. EIS scan finds no problem. I am wondering if Tracker Software has any connection with the .pdf viewer program "PDF-Viewer". Should I delete the \Tracker Software folder?
  10. I use EIS on a LAN. Does Emsisoft have any particular recommendations for avoiding infection by this cyberattack, other than keeping Windows patched?
  11. Hi Arthur: I already replied with the log file you wanted and was hoping to hear back with a solution. Thanks.
  12. I got a 4-system key to upgrade to EIS but it does not work on 1 system.
  13. Is it possible to upgrade from EAM to EIS and get credit for remaining days on EAM? And how does one do it, e.g., uninstall/install? Thanks to Thomas Ott for the excellent support!
  14. I have EAM on 4 systems, which also have System Suite for firewall and antivirus. If I upgrade to EIS from EAM (and remove System Suite), will my popmail be protected by EIS and what about anti-virus?
  15. I use EIS on System A. But when one program, Aquarium, tried to communicate from A to other systems on the LAN, there is no response. Nevertheless, I can ping other systems from System A; and can ping System A from other systems on LAN. I can also see/use files in shared folders on A from other systems; and vice versa. System A can function as a slave to other systems with perfectly good two-way communication with Master system. But System A cannon function as master (server) over the LAN. EIS shows up as an added program under EIS protection. How would I add other programs, e.g., those sending data over LAN, to the Protection list?
  16. Thanks for the detailed response. To my disappointment, there was no individual notification in the Action Center for EIS so I had to turn off notifications for All Apps.
  17. Every time I boot into Windows 10, I get a notification from EIS that my database is out of date. How can I turn off that notification?
  18. Thanks for the reply but I cannot reinstall EAM. I uninstalled EAM last week even though Windows still shows the program in the Control Panel. There are no EAM files on the system. When I try to reinstall EAM, I get a message: "EAM appears to be on your system. Please uninstall before trying to install again." How can I reinstall EAM? Is EEK a single file? Can I run that? Thanks, Jon Ostriker
  19. I uninstalled EAM last week even though Windows still shows the program in the Control Panel. There are no EAM files on the system. When I try to reinstall EAM, I get a message: "EAM appears to be on your system. Please uninstall before trying to install again." How can I reinstall EAM? Thanks, CMA
  20. I have had EAM and EEK on 4 systems for a while. I run a EAM scan once/week. I ran EEK once on system 4 and began to have BSODs on that system. 1) Is there any difference between a EAM scan and a EEK scan? The two products and the scans appear identical. 2) What are the risks of running a EEK scan? Here is the information re EAM from my MS minidump re the BSOD: "Code: fffff880`09820378 fffff880`047caa60Unable to load image \??\C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\EMSISOFT ANTI-MALWARE\epp.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for epp.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for epp.sys epp+0x18a60"
  21. I have Emsisoft Anti-Malware on a Win 7 x64 system and scan once/week. In the last week, I have had two BSODs followed by a Windows message today "Windows encountered a critical problem and will restart in 1 minute." Is this something that can be addressed with the Emergency Kit and if so, how would I use the Emergency Kit or is it identical to Emsisoft Anti-Malware?
  22. Thanks so much for perfect and easy solution.
  23. I just reinstalled Emsisoft but it does not show up on Windows context menu. How do I add it to context menu?
  24. Whenever I open the program, when I'm done, I want to use Windows Task Manager to close the program and get "access denied". How can I close the program?
