  2. Hi My PC has been running fine with EAM but I decided to uninstall it and use Microsoft Defender AV for a few days, just to see if it'd pick up anything. Its Controlled Folder Access blocked a process called ‘fwchksd.exe’ from accessing my protected memory. It reported it as ‘Low’. I've checked on line and it may be something to do with Lenovo, which is the make of my PC. I now want to reinstall Emsisoft. What should I do about the above process?
  3. Hi I’ve just set up a workspace for my PC, first setting it as Local and then changing it to Local & Remote. However, the device status still shows as Not managed. What do I need to do to change it to Managed?
  4. Hi Listed under Quick access in Windows 10 is a folder named Reports. This lists Emsisoft scan logs going further back than what’s displayed in the program's Logs. Is it normal to see them there?
  5. Hi CraigNZ After my first post I clicked the bell icon on and then off. I thought I’d read on the forum that this might solve the problem but it didn’t. I looked at the Logs, it showed four entries: “Protection state has been changed to Silent mode” “Scheduled update skipped by Silent mode” “Protection state has been changed to Normal” “Scheduled update skipped by Silent mode” When I got your reply, I watched, as you suggested, a YouTube video in full screen for a couple of minutes, then went out of full screen. I checked the Logs, it showed “Auto-Silent mode disabled” and after a few seconds EAM downloaded and installed updates! Many thanks for solving my problem.
  6. Hi Just noticed that EAM hasn’t been updating every hour today and last update is 1 day ago. Looking at the Log I see that the last entry for the 7 July was “Auto-Silent mode enabled”. Sometime afterwards I turned off my PC. Today the first Log entry is “Scheduled update… skipped by Silent Mode”. So, Auto-Silent mode never got disabled. Silent mode (bell icon) currently shows OFF. Anyone else experiencing this?
  7. I uninstalled/reinstalled the program and it's now working OK. If the issue recurs I'll try as suggested, thank you.
  8. Hi No, I hadn't left it in full screen mode. I've just restarted my PC and it's skipped the update for the same reason above. The last update is now 9 hours ago..
  9. Hi Just discovered that EAM isn’t updating every hour and when I look in the Logs there are entries that read: 'Scheduled update “Update every 1 hour 0 min Enabled” skipped by Silent Mode'. The bell icon shows that silent mode is off. I wasn't using the PC (Windows 10) on at least one occasion when an update was skipped. This has happened before and the problem went away when I reinstalled EAM. Anyone else experiencing this?
  10. Hi I’ve noticed on my new Windows 10 PC that “Shutdown received” and “Protection started” don’t always appear in the Logs when those actions are carried out. Of minor importance but just reporting it.

  12. Hi The Overview screen indicates that my last update was 2 hours ago. But according to the Log my last update was over 3 hours ago and the Log no longer records those instances when there are no files available to download and install. Anyone else seeing this?
  13. I’ve just noticed that clicking on the ‘View details’ button in Logs no longer opens a report detailing information on a finished scan. It opens a report detailing information on ‘Scan started’ but not on ‘Scan finished’. Anyone else experiencing this?
  14. I hadn't received any updates since 01:07 GMT today. My internet connection is working fine. I clicked on Update now and it stuck on Initialising, then clicked on Cancel Update and it stuck on Cancelling. After a restart updates started almost immediately. As a result, could updates have become corrupted and should I reinstall?

  17. Hi I just noticed that all my log entries had disappeared and new events were no longer being logged. However, I restarted my PC and the entries are back and the log is now working. Can anyone offer an explanation or is it just one of those things? After posting the above I noticed a number of errors in Event Viewer concerning Emsisoft: 1. Faulting application path: C:Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware \a2service.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware\a2core.dll 2. APPCRASH - problem signature 3. Emsisoft Protection Service service terminated unexpectedly Is the cause to do with these entries?
  18. As I said, the event no longer appears in Event Viewer since reinstalling. So, do I still need to run Emsiclean? If so, is it really necessary to raise a support ticket and attach a log before proceeding, as your guide says?
  19. Hi After uninstalling EAM the following event appeared in Event Viewer on restarting my PC: ‘The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: epp’. The above event repeated each time I restarted my PC. Is this normal? After reinstalling it no longer appears.
  20. You say the behaviour should now be as expected. Not wishing to labour the point, that suggests that if the option remained unchecked, protection would have disabled when the fix was made. If that’s so and if a user is unaware the option had become unchecked, their PC protection would be affected.
  21. After posting the above I restarted my PC and EAM has now updated. What could've been the cause?
  22. I've just noticed that Update is stuck on initialising. My last update was 3 hours ago. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  23. When I first posted this issue I got the impression it was a bug in the program that needed fixing. I was told the issue had already been raised on the forum. I would think that other users are also affected but not aware of it. I wasn’t until I noticed by chance the change in Advanced Settings as the program didn’t appear to be behaving differently. I checked on my wife’s computer and the option had also become unchecked. So in its current version is the program doing anything differently whether the option is checked or not?
