  1. That fixed it, thanks Fabian! Agree, awesome service.
  2. I sent the logs, subject "Fabian Debug Log".
  3. I reinstalled to give it another go. I took a look at event viewer after a reboot and noticed two errors. Event 7000, Service Control Manager. The Emsisoft Protection Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Event 7009, Service Control Manager A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Emsisoft Protection Service service to connect. 30000 miliseconds = 30 seconds, exactly the time it takes to login on boot for me with this EIS update.
  4. I still have the issue and if I install on a seperate machine that has the issue too, so do two other people I know who use EIS (Windows 8.1). I tried disabling each EIS component one by one and disabling start up items one by one, but no change. Unfortunetely I've uninstalled EIS and am using something else in the mean time so I can't help diagnose the problem, it's the third issue I've had in two weeks now due to updates, I can only assume you're struggling with Windows 10 development since the only added feature in this update was Windows 10 firewall support. I did notice that if I switch to a different Windows user the volume icon in the notification area comes back, Windows has no trouble switching users, takes about 2 or 3 seconds, only at startup does the problem occur (stuck at login screen for about 30 seconds).
  5. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck, I even installed on a fresh Windows 8.1 system and no luck, so something is broken in EIS again. I'm going to have to ask for a refund I think as this is becoming unreliable and unsafe, since Windows 10 released it's been a headache.
  6. My PC takes 3 seconds to shutdown when hitting restart and 8 seconds to boot so 11 seconds in total then. I just timed it now (restart) and it took 39 seconds, that's really long for me. I don't get what is going on with Emsisoft, first Windows 10, then a Vista problem and now a Windows 8.1 problem. How long will this take to solve? Other people I know who use EIS have got the same problem.
  7. I have the same problem. Windows 8.1 Home x64. My boot time was 8 seconds before now it is 28 seconds. It sticks on the Windows login screen. I also noticed my volume icon in the taskbar notification area is missing and I can't get it back, Windows says it is inactive. What happened?
  8. Hi everyone, I'm still new to using EIS, I hope you could give me some advice. Under Firewall Settings and then Automatic Rule Settings, what would you suggest are the best options to use? I want as much security as I can get (obvs) but at the same time I don't want to be spammed with notifications. That's the problem I had with my previous AV+Firewall combo that it was far too talkative, it gets on my nerves quick when I have to research a bazillion connection prompts (especially HIPs prompts). If you have any advice on other settings too I'd appreciate it very much! I currently use a NAT Router (old) and my current EIS settings are (for trusted) Allow/Allow and (untrusted) Ask/Ask. I read somewhere else that for better security a (trusted) Block/Ask and (Untrusted) Block/Ask is better? Thanks!
