Never mind.....program restart......sleep deprived !!!

Got restart notice, hit yes and computer did not restart. Manually restarted. Otherwise everything seems to be ok.

I am getting a 404 error with Firefox. Means that site is not active.

You should say what alert you are getting.

Guess you messed up something. I have this program on three computers without any kind of problems. The regular helpers

here will probably ask you to run programs to get logs to help you.

Never know with Windows 10. On 2/25 I got blessed with 4 updates, totally unexpected. This is a new laptop so maybe it doesn't like me yet. Only thing that happened, so

far. I think it also killed an HP program that I haven't figured out  to keep of not. This is a "pro" version laptop that did not have all the "crap" on it like the

dying Asus laptop.

It started working again.

The two programs did start up when booted this morning. Shortcuts in User startup folder did not start. Moved them to all users startup folder and they did not

start. Not sure if Internet security updated to the latest before this happened. No new Win 10 updates today.

Could this be Internet Security causing this problem ?

I remember reading that Task Scheduler should be used instead of the Startup Folders. Had trouble making tasks because of a no Password error.

I need to research that error tomorrow.

They have a new "beta" version out that cleared somethings not active on startup for me and others. 3.0.6.69 CU3.exe

I use Emsisoft Internet Security and Zemena Antimalware on this laptop and Emsisoft with Malwarebytes on two desktops.

Look closer at the Serf Protection. There is a box on the bottom left that says Import Host File. I believe a host file blocks all possible

connections from anywhere. Should be able to test by blocking a program from calling home which depending on that company's

amount of ip addresses. I never tested a host file for a range of addresses.

 

Thanks don't know how I missed that. Think I was looking for something with usb in it.

Was looking for a setting to disable scan when a usb stick/ drive is inserted.

If there is a setting, I could not find it.

Nothing foreign gets plugged in here.

Look at the first two lines. They are from my reply yesterday day. How they are showing up in this post is beyond me. Eset uses the same forum

software and this started there. Then on this forum also.

It is as if lines were quoted. This is either Windows 10, forum software or my settings or Clipmate my clipboard replacement.

At least I have three machines setup the same way so I can test. I am going to logout and go to another machine to test.

The first address is ipv4 and that "stuff" after it is the ipv6 address

x.x.x.x ipv4

fec0:0:0:fff::3  ipv6

I left a message with sales. Have over 700 days on two Emsisoft Antimalware, want three internet security programs and price to upgrade.

Guess I will have to pick one come March.

Installing Eset Smart Security 10.0.386.0 update and got a warning about a conflict.

In March my Eset program ends the year. Of course they confuse things with changing programs around.

I have Eset Smart Security on three computers so I don't know what the cost is going to be. I still have

almost two years left on EIS.

Recommend something ?

Checked and that link doesn't work for us "lowly"people. !!!

I don't always believe the register. No matter what we do, we could get hit anytime.

I always use exclusions, don't like surprises.

I doubt that you can compare Win 7 with Win 10 in any possible way. Win 10 is a different animal and that is why security

programs have problems with Win 7. There was a big bump when Win 7 came out. Some security programs made the switch

without problems and some drove me nuts.

Today one of my two desktops said I have 10 days left the other 105 which is correct. When I checked the license, it was different from

the one I have. Entered the correct license and back to normal.
