  1. It seems to have started with the latest version (6.0.0.40). It happens when there is an upload (1 KB) from the anti-malware guard and the computer goes into or is in sleep mode. I notice it when I turn the computer on. I am also running DefenseWall, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and LooknStop Firewall. I have since turned the "join the anti-malware network" and the problem stopped.

Last sentence should have read turned the - I have since turned the "join the anti-malware network" off and the problem stopped.

  2. Does it happen sporadically or can you reliably reproduce it? Are there any other security applications running in the background?

  3. Do you mean the Notification Area icon is unresponsive when you hover your mouse pointer over it or right-click it? Or, it does the icon not animate during a download, etc? Is your system fully patched - do you have Windows 7 SP1 and all subsequent updates installed?

It shows the upload when you hover the mouse pointer, You can no longer open Emsisoft from the tray icon and the green update dot in the tray icon also also frozen (doesn't circle around it). You can open Emsisoft AM from the desktop icon and it is still running just the tray icon is frozen. I am running SP1 with all updates installed,

  4. I having been testing 6.0.0.30 (now .31) the last few days. Install went okay, although first time I was presented with a screen asking if I wanted to delete version 5.1. I answered no and the installation hung. Retried and answered yest to removing 5.1 and installation of version 6 then worked, I assumed it would delete 5.1 automatically. I thought I had lost my 5.1 settings, but upon reboot they were still there. Full scan is much faster than 5.1. In the past I would avoid full scans as they took too long. I will now do a full scan at least monthly (scheduled scan). Version 6 seems to be getting along with my other security MBAM, DefenseWall and LooknStop Firewall. DefenseWall did flag four .ini files in EAM 6 as untrusted. I allowed them and changed their status in DW to trusted. I reported this to Ilya (DW's developer) so he can fix. So far I have no issues to report with EAM 6. Running on Windows 7 Home Premium x86.

I do have a license issue. I have around 42 days left on my 5.1 license, but version 6 does not recognize the license so I am running the 30-day trail.

  5. How often are the Host rules updated. I am using the built in list which I understand is from HpHosts (Steve Burn). Is it updated every new release or when partial releases are made. Are the updates automatic or must you download them manually? The last full update was May 5.

  6. Yes the log was for Feb. 3 2011 when I was running CC DNS showing auto and a few attempts at manual updates. the log reported that EAM had no updates in that 12 hour period when in EAM did have signature updates.

I left CC DNS connected overnight and did have two successful auto updates at 3:58 a.m. and 7:57 a.m. CST (Feb. 5, 2011), so apparently the problem is not all the time. Anyhow since it seems to be working at the moment I will keep an eye on it and see if I can find the culprit.

Thanks Lynx and stay cool. Opposite problem here very cold out.

  7. In the addition to the above:

Well, the time came and now according to the changelog here is what we are expecting to get

    2011-02-05 06:54:
     Signature update
     Additional signatures

That went well on XP as a manual update

win7x64clearclouddnseam.th.png here are details of the auto-update with full EAM + ClearCloud on Win7 x64

    No issues whatsoever

    Cheers!

Lynx - Link (below) for my update log for Feb. 3 covering a 12 hour period. On EAM's changelog there were several updates that day. Mine show none in that period. I turned CC DNS back on and yes my TCP/IP settings are identical to yours. I did try the download and it started successfully with CC DNS. I am running CC DNS again and will report back later today. Thank you for your quick response. Image here: http://img694.imageshack.us/i/amupdatelog.jpg/

  8. Lately I have noticed a problem on my machine with EAM (latest version) and ClearCloud DNS (with their utility). When using EAM auto updates and with CC DNS running there are no updates for extended periods. I get a message that there were "no modules for downloading" even though I visit sites like Calendar of Updates that indicates there were several EAM signature and/or other updates that day. I try and do a manual update and same message. If I turn CC DNS off, flush the DNS and reboot and check there always is an update waiting. I have auto updates set for hourly and without running CC DNS I get updates on average of every 3-4 hours which is what I expect. So the problem seems to occur only when using CC DNS. Thought I would post here first before I post this on their forum. I am using XP Pro, SP3 and also behind a router. Any suggestions other than not using a DNS service?
