  1. I don't really have a problem with the chance & will probably use a Windows FW addition - But I am a little worried about being away for a few days when the change is done on 02 October in case there are problems with this PC accessing the net for example. Is there any way I can do it today 30 September before I go away as others will be relying on this PC & concerned I wont be Superb service - Contacted support & got key converted & uninstalled EIS & installed EAM while I was at it - No problems whatsoever. Was going to add a secondary firewall but decided to leave things as they are unless I encounter problems. Thanks!

  3. OK: I did as advised, the firewall was still showing unknown LAN but I now had intermittent access to network player, uninstalled EIS again etc.(no network filter or Emsisoft NDIS packet filter this time) rebooted twice then did a registry search for Emsisoft entries, I found a few & deleted them then reinstalled & all is now is all well - Thanks for the help - Paul
  4. Thanks for that: I'll do that tomorrow! Much appreciated :-) (Sorry for long posts I do ramble on)
  5. OK, correction what was (used to show as) my LAN from within EIS is now shown as unknown network (can’t be good for network?). Just one Ethernet connected from this PC to the router. Yes the firmware is updated to the latest version, note though my Sony TV also lost access to this PC at the same time, and this also has the latest updates & this worked OK until a few days ago - And with ESET SS installed all works fine now. The IP's are not set as static but tend to keep the IP they had when first connected, this too has shown no problems. EIS asked whether private or public I said private weeks or longer ago. Interestingly if I image back 2 weeks (EDIT: correction a few days) with EIS installed & deny internet access (before boot) all works OK until internet access is applied? What Emsisoft is doing to the program whether there is one update or several I have no idea but I can have a perfectly working network until I allow EIS to update? Maybe future updates will solve the problem? I’m not sure what to do as each time Emsisoft updates the network from this PC ceases, the rest of the network is still OK. I can’t reset or change the firewall as it’s denied with EIS running & if I uninstall EIS I lose internet access totally & cannot reset or change any firewall settings. Maybe caused by Emsisoft firewall protection even though uninstalled? I’m really not trying to be clever but it can’t be coincidental with EIS losing the firewall. I’m OK for now with ESET as have a spare licence but I would like EIS back on as I rather like it. I'm not the world’s greatest firewall faffer but I have (had) a pretty good reliable network running for around 20 years. Maybe the removal of the firewall has caused issues with my particular firewall setup I don't know. But for now I’m stuck with ESET, I think when the full changeover is done in October I will try again but if I’m on my own with this I will be surprised. Thanks for your input, more than happy to hear more!
  6. No it quickly reverts back to public & shows network as unknown. If I uninstall Emsisoft at this stage the PC has no internet access whatsoever, attempts to alter the firewall or reset it fail. The only way I can get a working PC is to image back 2 weeks ago deny access to the PC & then uninstall Emsisoft & all is OK. Thank you
  7. Hello: I've a Marantz Network Music player connected to my router & Hi-Fi & use this PC as a music server, it’s worked perfectly in the past with ESET & now with Emsisoft IS for months. Today I found the network player was unable to access this PC (I use this PC as music & video server) with Emsisoft ES on. After much faffing I saw that in the firewall my LAN was now an unknown network & my private network was public. This was not how it was, anyway I thought it may be a glitch so I restored a full (Reflect) image from 2 weeks ago. For a few minutes my player picked up this PC & all looked OK, within minutes however it was blocked again. My firewall from within Emsisoft looked OK when I first restarted the PC from restoring now was unknown network etc as earlier. I came to a conclusion that Emsisoft was updating & causing the problem. So I again restored a full image from September 01 & denied internet access & uninstalled Emsisoft. I reinstalled Emsisoft & had exactly the same firewall issues & I also noticed this included blocking my Sony Android TV which I play video from this PC on too. Imaged back again, denied internet access uninstalled Emsisoft & installed ESET SS, the system works perfectly. I want to use Emsisoft but since the issue I’ve done an image with ESET & have experimented with Emsisoft & are unable to fix the firewall problem, unknown LAN etc. Nothing else on the system has changed, there was no problems a week or so ago, system images done 2 weeks ago work fine for a couple of minutes then the firewall gets messed up I can only assume by Emsisoft updating - Windows 10 home, up to date, though tried without this months patches this makes no differance, all items wired via Ethernet, . Any ideas please.
