... we ... subsequently discontinued our own firewall technology. While it's impossible to predict the future, I expect that our interest in such technologies will remain minimal at least in the near future.

I still think it's a pity that Emsisoft discontinued their excellent firewall technology. Would be a great addition to EAM.

Hi I am little confused about how to utilize the new licensing center as it wont accept my forum email or password

Did you use one or more capital letters for your email address? I did, and I couldn't access my.emsisoft either. Try to write your email address in lower case letters (e.g. [email protected] instead of [email protected] That's what I did and I could then access my.emsisoft.

Has Epson's support said anything about why their printer might be seen by Windows as a hard drive?

No. I just tried to install the latest updates, but they are already installed. Technically speaking, Emsisoft's detection of my printer is correct because it has a card reader. It would be great, however, if this printer could be somehow excluded from being detected by EAM.

    https://blog.emsisoft.com/2017/12/18/do-not-run-multiple-antivirus/?ref=newsbox_ticker171219&utm_source=newsbox&utm_medium=software&utm_content=ticker171219&utm_campaign=ticker171219

I know that traditionally the idea of "layered protection" is to install a bunch of software with real-time protection, and just live with the downsides.

This may be the "traditional" idea of "layered protection", but this is not the concept I'm talking about. I wouldn't install two or more apps that all do the same thing.

I have always preferred this approach:

Why not mix it up a bit, and use a sandbox/hardware firewall/DNS protection service/etc.

A "security mix" is always a good idea, as long as there is no "overlap".
