  1. Thank you for the reply and explanation catprincess. As of the moment I did place it in RunSafer. Right now I am having trouble with OA eating up my resources. My pc is literally crawling. I think I'll save the config and perform a re-install.
  2. Zippy question here. What rule can I set for the Firefox plug-in-container? Is it safe to place it in Trusted or RunSafer? I am using FDM (freedownload manager), if I set that container to RunSafer will it affect FDM? Thank you!
  3. Hi catprincess, Will try it out later as I am in the office. Thanks and have a nice Xmas season malik
  4. Hello catprincess, Sorry for the late reply...you know it's the season for Johnny Black In the first few days it remained as OA Premium but today after some inactivity with this pc I was surprised that it changed to the free version. See image attached. I noticed one thing with the free version, applications take along time to launch unlike when I was with OA Premium. Almost all that I launch gets somewhat clogged or something..Firefox 8 (in Sandboxie) went to "Not Responding" twice when I was downloading through FreeDownload manager(FDM). Rendering is slow..darn slow...is there a workaround for this...? I am tempted to remove it entirely seems like version 3 or 4....
  5. Quick question here: My license will expire tomorrow for OA Premium and I plan to use OA free in the meantime for about a month before using getting a license again. Will I need to uninstall OA Premium? Or will I leave it at that? What happens with my installation? Really do not remember the differences between OA free and Premium since I have always used the Premium. Will I still able to block an application from using another application in Programs>Advance options>Start Application...? What happens to the exclusions if I leave the current set-up? I seem to remember that it will "revert to the free version" but have not been able to do so as I always get another license. How about File/Registry Protection? Can someone fill me in please... Thank you
  6. Thank you for stressing what you prefer in this forum area. I thought that since OA was mentioned there somebody here can share some inputs to those that have not been gifted with the technical knowledge of how OA HIPS works. The links have discussed some aspects of how the other firewall/HIPS program behaved on the said trojan. While I believe OA has good HIPS and it did quite well there, some like me "that have not been gifted with the technical knowledge of how OA HIPS works" feel comfortable with some ideas/inputs from OA people and not from "other" forums. I ( and I am sure that there are average joe and jane here) don't know how to effectively configure OA or use it effectively against these kind of threats. "ASK" (yourself or somebody) that's the very first human instinct when an average guy encounters something he is confused about it. "SEEK"...finding solutions or clarity of what you were confused about. Even you who have all the driving and topography knowledge of your area have wandered some strange-unfamiliar town/street/location and got confused....and of course you ASKED somebody there. I was just asking but clearly it has been pointed out that so tsk..I hope some "know-it-alls" (who seem to center around their excellent computer proficiency and seems to have careers associated with IT) will not forget how it felt when they encountered something like what I am asking..when they scratched there head and ask themselves huh..what/why/how etc. ...and at least give the benefit of the doubt to people like me. I hope those "know-it-alls" will put themselves in my shoes(non-IT)for a change. - I am reading but I am not as gifted, the reason for this post. And as you said, it isn't something you can absorb over a cup of coffee. ..again a reason for this post (also that is part of the SEEK which I started doing before I posted AND atop the ASK I did) because I am not as gifted. - again part of the reason is how does OA protect me? question. Thank you anyway.
  7. I was browsing in another forum earlier and a thread caught my attention. THIS one. I continued to search for more and found THIS which is quite related. Now I am very concerned as to how OA will protect me/us HIPS wise. They are talking about HIPS behavior/capabilities there..sandbox functionalities..etc. and man there is a LOT of talk on-going now there. Anyone techy enough to explain it? How can we users of OA be assured of protection? Need to understand this one as this is concerning.
  8. @ catprincess, Thanks very much for the information given. I will remember that. "-- How about Avast Sandbox?(though I am not fond of using it...I'd like to ask this one for opinions). I have tried it before and compared it with RunSafer...seems alike...Can I have some comments on this please.." --any comments on this one please... Thanks all:)
  9. Hello; Thanks very much for the reply. Really appreciate it. I will relay the message here via email to my friends at the office. (We work in different shifts and we only talk/have a gathering when we can). I will also ask/encourage them to join/participate here. I hope that this will be considered. "It may be a good move if someone will make a review of some sort like: i) Comparing version 4.5 with version 5 on XP/Win7 x32/x64 performance ii) Observations with Avast ver6(seems a bit buggy still and still in RC)" One question if I may(again). Is RunSafer still there? Previously I tend to use it like Sandboxie(when I was with the freeware version of SBIE)..it can be used as such right..? "Running Chrome inside a Sandboxie sandbox won't work unless you exclude Chrome from Online Armor." -- I use SBIE paid. If I instead will not run Chrome in SBIE but run it with RunSafer, will I get the same limited-restriction as SBIE? Will Chrome work well in that scenario? -- How about Avast Sandbox?(though I am not fond of using it...I'd like to ask this one for opinions). I have tried it before and compared it with RunSafer...seems alike...Can I have some comments on this please...thanks again! Thanks again! malik
  10. Hello; How long will the ver5 final release be...? I am reading a lot lately and will be on the wait for it's release. Anyway it's good that the new version is nearing it's finality. Been waiting and waiting here. Friends are also waiting. Might I ask another question regarding unused licenses..? Here goes: I have actually 2 unused licenses of OA Premium. One from a blog win and one purchased. I also have one for OA++ from a forum win. All are unused right now. Waiting for ver5 honestly. I have been told by a friend and former OA forum member that license is still good and there is no shelf-life. Can someone confirm that please....? Friends (not forum members but just plain users) are also asking and waiting for confirmation on that question..Migrated to a different firewall when they encountered some problems and now since I gave word of an RC..bugging me about it. They are still on a "wait and see" then try if they will experience the same problems again after final release(playing it safe or something..). I am still reading the ongoing thread at Wilders'. The other links I will check-out later. It may be a good move if someone will make a review of some sort like: i) Comparing version 4.5 with version 5 on XP/Win7 x32/x64 performance ii) Observations with Avast ver6(seems a bit buggy still and still in RC) Stuff like that...a lot here do not frequent forums to interact and just read and read first(well busy people not in the filed of computers). That would be a great help and encouragement for those kind of people to jump onto the new version from their existing apps. Thank you. malik:)
  11. Yeah large number of pop-ups eventhough it has been set to Learning mode for 2 weeks here. To not be annoyed had to place it back to Learning mode often...Seems not to "learn" what you set. Previous versios where not like that...but was quite heavy..this(ver 4.5.1.431) is a bit lighter than ver 3.5 though...
  12. Hello Nick; They are all excluded. Both as to not have any conflicts with each other. (Program Files/Documents and Settings>Application Data folders)
  13. I have Avira Premium ver10 and OA for realtime. MbamPro(on-demand)just that.
  14. Hi, I have slow boot time with Windows 7 x32...well little slower than XP(SP3). I have OAfree ver 4.5.1.431. I have Firefox as my default browser. What can I do? Thank you
