thank you for your suggestion.  I had already tried that..........   :(


I was afraid of that.


The encryption method uses a unique key pair to encrypt the files, a public key & a private key.  The private key is generated by the command & control server, and never leaves that server.  The private key is needed to decrypt the files, and only the individual in control of the command & control server has access to the private key.


Unfortunately without backups there is no other way to restore the files to their unencrypted state.
