Lawrence_C
Hi Emsisoft, First, thank you for your quality software products I trust to use as the best coming from someone (me) who is picky about security software. I have done multiple consecutive restarts in attempts to install the updated new version of OA and yet the same prompt continues to pop up. I even downloaded the install program again from emsisoft website to install that way, without different results as I write this now, which is, that even after responding to the prompt at least several times: "Confirm" "A new version of Online Armor has been downloaded and an updated version will be installed the next time you restart your computer. Would you like to restart now ?" to which I clicked Yes to at least a few times before downloading and running the installation download from the emsisoft website a short while ago in an attempt to clear this problem, yet the prompt even shows again after that. So, I seem to not be able to either successfully install the new version, or the prompt to do so may be a false indication in some sort of error. I do not know which, but it seemed the installation I did ran and completed successfully without problem or fail as no indication of such was presented. I have done the restarts. At least several times. I am not talking about the prompt showing up a number of times if you have not done the restart yet. I have done at least several restarts to respond to this prompt. Yes! And even moire as already explained, even a separate full reinstall (upgrade) with the installation file is something I have also ran before writing this now. I still get the prompt concerning a new version and it will be installed after the next restart, as I have already gotten many times and restarted many times already, before now. So, I wonder if I can clear this in some way so I can know it is the new version I am now running and without continual senseless prompts to install again (as would be not needed) a new version which may already be installed. In other words, please help me fix this? Thank you. http://s1.bild.me/bilder/260513/9581092oa.png That, above, again and again, over and over, even after, YES, I have done multiple restarts. Thank you. Sincerely, Lawrence Connor

Lawrence_C
Hi Arthur. Yes, I got your message via email, and i am replying now. Yes, I had already installing (but as repair or upgrade) before. What I am going to do now as you seemed to indicated, is uninstall, (including a needed restart) and reinstalling the software again. Lawrence_C
Did the fresh install. No good so far. I am stuck in a different endless loop now. It is now installing, then before finishing initialization, saying there is an update, I have done both stopping the initialization to "update", and also, not done that to finish the initialization, either way, the next time into windows, it does it again. Lawrence_C
I would like at least this one answer at a minimum. Has there been a product update recently to a new version of Online Armor which would require such an update and/or reinstall? Has there been a new version of Online Armor in the past few days? Yes? Or No? Thank you.
Lawrence_C
If no one else is updating, or has to update to any new version, like, there may NOT be any new version, then that is an obvious problem in itself. Right? Got it? If there is a new version in the past few days requiring such an update by way of this notification to reinstall and so on as already shown, then at least that's OK. catprincess
I had to remove various private information from your posts including links to the helpdesk ticket which shows your license keys, email address, etc. If you already have a helpdesk ticket for this, then it's recommended to continue with support via that method. I suggest you also speak to the support person dealing with your helpdesk ticket about your license keys for EAM and OA also, as they were visible to anyone to steal, before I had a chance to remove them. Lawrence_C
What appears to be occurring here is a refusal to be open regarding the version history of online armor at least as to any response and acknowledgement to me? Lawrence_C
As is plainly evident, the current version of Online Armor is Version 7.0.0.1866 which was released on: 10/15/2013 What would have been helpful, and even more basically, merely honest, is a willingness to truthfully answer this the right way, which did not happen. http://changeblog.emsisoft.com/?s=online+armor Emsisoft Online Armor 7.0.0.1866 released! http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/oa/ Version 7.0.0.1866 Runs On: Win XP, Vista, 7 & 8Released: 10/15/2013 http://s1.bild.me/bilder/260513/6601339v1.png http://s1.bild.me/bilder/260513/7426330v2.png http://s1.bild.me/bilder/260513/5115123v3.png So, an essential question which was unanswered remains the same as given before, and received silence as the failure to reply: Has there been a product update recently to a new version of Online Armor which would require such an update and/or reinstall? Has there been a new version of Online Armor in the past few days? Yes? Or No? Thank you. Understand? Please reply? Thank you. Lawrence
Rob R.
Lawrence, I just installed Online Armor version 7.0.0.1866 on Windows 7 SP1 64bit and have no issues at all with the installation.. Version 7.0.0.1866 is the latest version, Did you confirm the unknown Autoruns? If you did, and are still in the update loop, I suspect other software on your system interferes with the installation.Check the logs from other active security software or disable other security software for a while till Online Armor is installed and running after the reboot. Lawrence_C
Yes, I did confirm the autoruns, but the whole process does not "take" and whatever way I do it, it all will be repeated again as if not completed at all before, every new retsrat I do again, even after following through with responding to the prompts, ether way, whether doing the update as quick as it first appears, or not doing that and waiting for initialization to complete and also resetting the settings including restoring from my backup of the settings, I have done all these all ways many times, and it does not, "take", and keeps repeating anew as if not done even once yet. The obvious answer is that there was no recent update that started this whole process with me in the first place of what I started to get as the prompts for an updated version being downloaded and ready to install in the first place as shown previously. The answer not given to me but what I am saying seems to be the only sensible correct answer I can see so far for myself, is that, NO, there really was no need for the apparent update to a new version, since there appears to be no newer version very recently. I am a bit miffed nobody was willing to give a straightforward answer to that.
Lawrence_C
Do you understand that I already had been running Online Armor version 7.0.0.1866 on Windows 7 SP1 64bit for a long time and this was really not any original issue of my doing an original install now? It is an issue where I was prompted to do an update where no such update exists at all. I can very sure that was already very clear.
Lawrence_C
Do you know this was not an original issue of my doing an original install now? This issue is a supposed update that has now rendered my OA unusable at present. It is an issue where I was prompted to do an update where no such update exists at all. There has been no recent update for Online Armor and I asked that with a failure to reply. I already have been running Online Armor a long time, my PC update in mid October. See? And when I asked if there had been any recent update requiring my original recent prompts for it, a direct and honest response to that essential question was in order, but nobody wanted to say so. Rob R.
Lawrence,I'm pretty sure that another program is interfering. Don't know which one, but if a registry fix program is running at each boot it could be the program that's messing up the Online Armor installation.Check which programs are starting with Windows and disable the fix and cleaner programs at start. If that doesn't help, disable other security software until Online Armor is installed and running like it should.
Lawrence_C
I will seek my help from email and answer desk or help desk to my ticket and via email as it is frustrating dealing with people here who are seemingly deliberately avoiding to answer very directly given questions and being obtuse and obfuscating with refusals to recognize and acknowledge issues clearly presented that are involved in this. Basically almost being evasive and dishonest by a failure to give a ready able to be given honest reply here. I am seeking my help from my submitted ticket and via help desk email as people here do not want to be straightforward. Thank you. Bye.
Lawrence_C
Email sent to Emsisoft as follows: Nov 24, 2013 To Emsisoft, The question of whether there had been any recent update for OA is very much essential as that was what started the whole problem for me recently. That is, that my installation of OA that I was already running on my PC for several months and was not out of date, should not have given me indication or prompt to do an update when there has not been any. This is what made the question a necessarily essential point in my issue, and also why it should not have been ignored and left without an honest reply, as did occur. There has been no recent update to OA, so when I was prompted for that, it was faulty, and it was unavoidably, and undeniably, an integral part of this problem deserving reply. I asked that essential question that is part and parcel of the issue I am trying to deal with. But everybody failed to give an honest answer, because nobody did give an honest answer. I have to struggle hard trying to imagine whether anyone at Emsisoft has the integrity to acknowledge valid points, and the willingness to recognize them, and to respond as well. I also have to struggle to try to imagine if anyone at Emsisoft cares to try to understand the valid point clearly made. I was prompted to update an existing installation of OA that was not out of date. I was prompted to do an update when there was no update occurring for OA now. When I was prompted to do this recent update for OA that was incorrect and not in order, there is something wrong with that that actually is the problem that made the rest happen. There has been no such update recently for OA. When I asked about that nobody wanted to answer. Wrong. Everyone has failed to answer it as if it is merely their prerogative to ignore anything they want to ignore. Wrong. If you do not understand this yet, or do not wish to reply with a semblance of integrity, you need to be replaced. http://support.emsisoft.com/topic/12990-oa-multiple-consecutive-installs-and-restarts-with-same-prompt-appearing/ Thank you. trujwin
Whenever I got those prompts (OA having updated and advising a restart) , I always chose "NO" because I have a ridiculously slow starting Win 7 x 64 laptop. But then when I would check with my present OA version and the listed version , I would conclude that it is a mal-function of the update module which triggers even on signature updates. I was wondering that this event was already reported (infact I was planning to report the event) and since I had circumvented it , did not bother much.. @ Rob R , I always go the hibernate -resume cycle and rarely run any registry related programs. Sometimes only CCLeaner to clear any junk files thats all. But OA being a security related software , I sincerely believe it should zealously keep off-bounds any or all parts of its working mechansim when it is ON. Also I thought my OA and Avast services are amongst the first programs to start when I switch on my computer. Could you kindly say which Registry entry is to be checked for accidental modification since I too keep getting these alerts once in a while.. catprincess
I've again had to remove links to your helpdesk tickets which reveal details such as your email address that spammers can then harvest. Since you have taken the advice I gave you before to continue your support request in your ticket, I'll close this thread as it's counterproductive to have the same support request in multiple places.
