In attempting to update to this new version of CCleaner, OAP pop up claimed it is a dangerous program.

Is it really so, or is this a false positive?

queenslander,

It's most likely detected as infected because it contains a PUP.

In the OA popup is a link for more info, but i'm pretty sure that popup is closed now.

Find the warning in OA history. Click the (?) for info from isthisfilesafe.com

At the bottom of that page you'll see a link to the most recent Virustotal scan results where that file was checked by ±50 Anti-Malware applications.

History only shows what happened. You can't change what happened.

(Unless you have a DeLorean and a flux capacitor ;))

Hi!

I had a similar problem!

http://support.emsisoft.com/topic/13793-%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%8B%D0%B9-ccleaner-%D0%B8-%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B0%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F-%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%89%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B0-%D0%BE%D0%B0/

But after a few days HIPS OA has already allowed the installation! Probably, it is connected with updating threat databases. ^_^

As a reaction to the installation file called, obviously, changes in functionality CCleaner.

I had the same warning (twice) and decided to wait to install a future version of CC since there was nohting monumental in regards to my system in this release.

Good that OA is ever on watch.

Personally I installed with piriform.com.

But the problem is already solved! I have installed CCleaner 4.11 without problems from the side of OA.

After Rob's reply, I took the bull by the horns and installed CC anyway despite loads of OAP warnings that it was a dangerous program.

Things seem to be working OK though.

The format of this post has gone haywire for some reason!
