jakesahn 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 a2cmd.exe version 8.1.0.31 emergency kit version 4.0.0.17 windows 7 32 bit a2cmd does not detect cookies with the /c switch. The emergency kit does. 45 cookies in my case. After a2cmd runs, it does not show that the cookie switch was initialized in the results.
GT500 593 Report post Posted April 4, 2014 The cookie scan is being removed from all of our scanners (it's already been removed from Emsisoft Anti-Malware, and I believe from the standalone A2CMD as well).
jakesahn 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2014 Are cookies just not that important? The details usually say "medium risk". curious.
GT500 593 Report post Posted April 8, 2014 Cookies are not actually malicious. They're just text files that are saved by your web browser, and websites can only access them by asking your web browser to send them. Every web browser has security features that limit the abuse of cookies, and most allow you to manage cookies these days as well. There are also extensions for web browsers like Ghostery that allow for preventing tracking cookies altogether, which pretty much eliminates any need for scanner that can detect and remove tracking cookies.
