Malware removal

Recommended Posts

Can someone please help me to get rid of: Perflib_Perfdata_(changing letter/number suffix, usually a combination of 3). I have tried about everything short of a clean install, but to no avail. This file resides in my temp files and it will not let me delete this single file. I have tried to remove this in Safe mode with no luck. I have sought help from Microsoft and they couldn't get rid of it either. Please help!! I have looked this up on the internet and uderstand this to be Malware or a Trojan.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely, Curtis

Hi curtise,

Welcome to the forum

since you posted into this forum section please follow the standard procedure (referred instruction below)

At the same time keep in mind that Perflib_PerfdataXXX files files could be legitimate files

They could be created by the programs that are monitoring performance

So it is possible that those flaggings are False Positives

Irrespectively to the instruction you will follow – submit file to EMSI from the detection list for analysis

In addition read http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;285798

Here is the standard procedure of investigating the matter in this section:

=======

Read the following instructions

START HERE, if you don't we are just going to send you back to this thread <--click

Prepare and post the required log files into this thread

Wait for reply from ShadowPuterDude, Katana, or JeanInMontana

for assistance and further instructions.

=======

My regards

P.S. Posting just the file name or the alleged infection name does not provide any information

The location of the files / precise names of files and/or Registry Entries ; processes, etc. are required. The same applies to the detections names. All that info should be in the saved report produced by a-squared. That will be one of the steps in the instruction
