Grayed out buttons on Windows 8.1 Pro x64.

Recommended Posts

I’m a customer who uses your program. I bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 Pro x64 already pre-installed on it.

Updated to the latest windows updates and installed the program EIS.

Unfortunately I also experience problems with Grayed out boxes inside the program.

The program has activated the firewall correctly see screenshot.

Unfortenately going to the firewall screen. All boxes below are grayed out and cannot be edited???

So no new rules can be added nor existing ones altered.

This is the same in the Application Rules settings screen (see below screenshot) Also there the buttons are grayed out.

Also in the Surf Protection screen (buttons are grayed out).

I have attached the FW log of my machine after software has been installed and laptop was rebooted.

Everything looks okay there. No problem there there was no block of any program.

The firewall driver is applied to the network card as below screenshot.

The only thing is see in the event viewer is the following :

It concerns the following services installed by EIS :

I hope this gives you some feedback on the software so you guys can figure out why those boxes are disabled…

Please let me know if there is anything I can do (test it for you) in order to resolve this glitch in Win 8.1 Pro X64

Have you tried installing ALL Windows Updates, including the optional ones?

Then run Emsisoft IS 9 update a few times until it downloads nothing and restart machine.

That fixed it for me.
