chamlin
I've been having boot traces done on my SSD which is taking a long time to boot up (1 minute 30 seconds). EIS is ranging from 32 to 50 seconds. Is this unusual? Is there something I can do to make this faster?
Fabian Wosar
32 to 50 seconds does sound excessive indeed. You can try to disable "Protect the computer even if no user is logged on" under "Protection"/"File Guard". That may help your boot times a bit. If it doesn't please let me know so we can look into what exactly is taking so much time during boot.
chamlin
Thanks for the reply, Fabian. If I disable that, what is the risk? And If the computer is set to Autologon (to my administrator profile), would it make a difference?
chamlin
Fabian, disabled what you suggested but it made no difference so I've reenabled it. Have disabled Emsi Protection Service and the Asus one. Rebooted. No difference in boot time. I'm running a "trace" now to see what EIS is doing that that disabled and will report back here. Here is a list of "timings" of the boot. May provide insight. Fabian Wosar
It would be quite helpful to get an actual boot trace of your system. While your self-made notes are handy, they don't really say anything about what is taking so much time during the boot. Depending on the exact version of Windows you are using there are various tools that could be used to create such a trace. Would you mind sharing the Windows version you are using so I can compile some instructions for you?
