crasey
Trying to install EIS after uninstalling EAM + OA. EIS installer checks system and recommends KB979278 hotfix before continuing. When I try to download either KB979278 or KB981889 I can't get past the terms and conditions page. Each time I press accept it loops back to the same page. I tried both FF and IE with same result. EAM + OA worked fine on this Vista machine for years. Do I really need this hotfix?
Peter2150
Unfortunately, you do.
Christian Peters
Hello, yes you need this hotfix as Peter alerady suggested.
crasey
Thank you both. It was a cookie problem. Deleting cookie permissions in IE and FF allowed me to progress to the download page. Since EAM + OA was working well previously I was just surprised EIS was different enough to trigger the need for the hotfix.
Siketa
Firewall component in EIS is not the same as in OA. People often ignore or just do not know the difference.
Fabian Wosar
As Siketa already explained, the firewall component in EIS is completely different then the one used in OA. EIS takes advantage of the new Windows Firewall Platform that was introduced with Windows Vista for example. Unfortunately the Windows Firewall Platform is still relatively new, so Microsoft had to make numerous fixes to it and we require those fixes to be applied so we don't just crash your system.
