Do you folks recommend using the DNS service provided by your ISP or is it advisable to switch to something like OpenDNS or one of the other DNS service providers? Pros and Cons?

That really depends on the reason you are trying to decide whether or not to switch. In most cases speed is involved, but it is not said that a third-party DNS service is always faster than your ISP's DNS servers. To find that out you can run a benchmark tool, for example NameBench. This will list speeds of third-party DNS servers and compare them with those of your ISP.
