Cant Update

Anyone else having trouble updating asquare free or reaching the main site??

Getting

Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

when tyring to access www.emisoft.com

It could be just a temporary connection problem at your end, because I performed 1st updated this morning successfully a minute ago after reading your post

8:39AM here

windows 7 x64, avira antivir, comodo firewall with defense +

on demand malwarebytes, asquare free, hitman pro, windows defender

no changes in firewall rules or policys

all other malware programs able to update and run

able to access all other antivirus/antimalware sites

talked to 2 friends as well they cant connect to site either

since they dont have the asquare free program cant ask them to update

So that indeed looks like temporary local issue as it was pointed

Still unable to acess any of the emsisoft.com websites except support.emsisoft.com

able to ping www.emsisoft.com though

Fixing 503 errors

The Web server is effectively 'closed for repair'. It is still functioning minimally because it can at least respond with a 503 status code, but full service is impossible i.e. the Web site is simply unavailable. There are a myriad possible reasons for this, but generally it is because of some human intervention by the operators of the Web server machine. You can usually expect that someone is working on the problem, and normal service will resume as soon as possible.

hopefully it will be fixed soon

If you are in an office environment you need to talk to your Network Administrator and ask him/her to allow Emsisoft Anti-Malware through the firewall.

Try to use Ping command to tarce where are the packets going.If connection timed that communion might be blocked by inner firewall.

Yes but earlier we could manually download a set of file(s) and install it in the software subdirectory.

Why can't we do it now ?

Hi must7, welcome to the forum

Can you please clarify that?

Are you talking about Emergency USB Sick files?... but that should not be "installed" on hard drive and still despite having the latest modules and Signatures "at the moment" it needs to be updated otherwise you have constantly download 90 MB before every scan (some very latest signatures could be missed anyway)

There was never official way to get updates except the “on-line way”

There were some discussions about unofficial (stressing!) method of downloading the Additional Signatures from Ikarus only, but not those from a-squared (former naming).

It was explained why that method could lead to mistakes ; the Software working improperly & even crashes. It was used in rare cases for testing purposes only when some users experienced difficulties with their connection settings.

As H_D suggested

and again talk to your Network Administrator about it

That is an excellently working solution. Only one dedicated computer will get new data from the Emsisoft Server(s) ... other computers will be set up and fed by necessary updated internally using your LAN accessing that one PC
