The above message popped up shortly after EIS was unable to complete a scan of my PC, this even though I made several attempts.

 

Your guidance would be appreciated.

 

PS I was able to complete a scan with Malwarebytes without incident.

The "internal processing error" is related to updates. It's possible that an update was in progress while the scan was running. Have you have any trouble running scans or checking for updates since that happened?

I noticed that the last signatures update had taken place last night, so I rebooted the computer and performed a manual update.

 

I was then able to perform a full system scan,

 

The next system scan is scheduled for tomorrow, so here's hoping !
