Updates Not Finishing

I have exactly this same problem running EEK. I tried many times..,. Should be easy to reproduce, just download EEK and try to update the signmature database. It just get's stuck.

I'm also running Win 10 x64.

Please try the following, and let me know if that helps:

  • Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard (the one with the Windows logo on it, usually between the Ctrl and Alt keys) and tap the R key to open the Run dialog.
  • Type %TEMP% into the field, and click the OK button.
  • A window should open showing you your TEMP files.
  • Look for a folder named a2temp, and if you find it then delete it.

Unfortunately this did not fix the issue for me. I tried to update EEK on multiple computers, all failed. I even tethered my network using my mobile phone to update EEK, still no go.

What happens if you turn off the firewall in Emsisoft Internet Security, and then try updating Emsisoft Emergency Kit?

But this means that Emsisoft Internet Security firewall is poorly designed...

The firewall on Emsisoft Internet Security is not poorly designed, but they just have some issues with it, which will be solve later on.

There's a bug in the firewall in Emsisoft Internet Security that's causing it to block things it would otherwise allow. This should be fixed in the next beta version. ;)
