jeaniedeeb 0
I attempted to down load a sewing machine manual, Then cancelled before it finished, or so I thought, as it asked to make changes, and found adware and other odd behaviour. I scanned with Malwarebytes, and found a good number of trojans and pups, and deleted, using revo uninstall pro to uninstall some things in which they were hiding, like vlc player, flash, and I deleted firefox, and then downloaded new ones. There was still odd behaviour on occasion and I downloaded emisoft antimalware and ran scans and quaratined what was suggested. There was still odd behaviour and I noticed the are 4 items that refused to quarantine. I was tempted to delete but have not as yet as the scan said no threats. I found this site and read through, and have included the requested files, and included the malwarebytes scan text. Thank you in advance. jeaniedeeb 0
Not sure of relevancy, but I forgot to add, that when trying to download and run FRST, windows popped up message that it was wrong version, and the terms of use was unreadable. This happened with both versions. I deleted them and started over with the original 64 bit choice and ignored windows and ran it anyway.

Kevin Zoll 309
I would like to run a couple of tools that target Adware and Junkware in general. Download AdwCleaner and save it on your desktop. Close all open programs and Internet browsers (you may want to print our or write down these instructions first). Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool. Click on the Scan button. After the scan has finished, click on the Clean button. Confirm each time with OK. You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open in Notepad after the restart (this is the log of what was removed), which you can save on your desktop. Attach that log file to your reply by clicking the More Reply Options button to the lower-right of where you type in your reply. NOTE: If you lose that log file for any reason, you can find it at C:\AdwCleaner on your computer. Download Junkware Removal Tool and save it on your desktop.Run the tool by double-clicking it. The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log is saved to your desktop and will automatically open. Attach the JRT log file to a reply by clicking the More Reply Options button to the lower-right of where you type in your reply.

Kevin Zoll 309
Let's take a fresh look. Run fresh scans with Emsisoft Emergency Kit (EEK) and FRST, attach the new EEK and FRST scans to your reply. Be sure to let me know how things are running?
jeaniedeeb 0
Ok. Reports are here. I haven't noticed any suspicious actions or functions. System seems quiet excepting the Avast pop ups, often with 3-4 warning messages stating that the file system shield has blocked threats. This is much more often and in a pattern than previously. I am wondering if it is the updates for the other malwarebytes or emi programs, as usually a message stating updates complete is followed by the warnings. I am hoping it is clean. Thank you for this site and for your time in particular. I wish I understood how to read these files and code. FRST.txt scan_151120-134955.txt
jeaniedeeb 0
A few hours later, I notice that the avast warnings have read as things like, "win32:Malware-gen" or something about a trojan trying to get in. I am trying to find how I can look at what has been blocked and stuck in the chest. I also noticed a small flash in firefox. Previously, there had a been quite a bit of that kind of activity. Otherwise, as before, things are quiet
jeaniedeeb 0
As time goes on, I am seeing suspicious behaviour, flashing, long hang times. Along with the warning, that a a suspect was blocked, like above, is one that reads, "win32:Trojan-gen".
Kevin Zoll 309
Nothing in your logs that would explain the behavior you are seeing. Changing tools. Download RogueKiller from one of the following links and save it to your desktop: Link 1 Link 2Close all programs and disconnect any USB or external drives before running the tool. Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run the tool (Vista or 7 users: Right-click and select Run As Administrator). Once the Prescan has finished, click Scan. Once the Status box shows "Scan Finished", just close the program. <--Don't fix anything! Attach the RogueKiller report to your next reply. The log can also be found on your desktop labeled (RKreport[X]_S_xxdatexx_xtimex) The highest number of [X], is the most recent Scan
jeaniedeeb 0
Have done as last requested. No report shows on desktop. Nothing appeared in the scan window results, though a page of rk website detailing information about POMs opened. The only log I can find after doing a search is a Json file in the application's logs. I assumed this is not what was wanted. Is it possible that the flash, more like a quick stutter, and the repeated pattern of avast notifications is just the result of the avast blocking and sending to chest of trojans attempting to gain access? There have been no random ads or programs opening...
Kevin Zoll 309
Run RogueKiller again. If it does not produce a log this time, then we will try something different.
jeaniedeeb 0
Again, no log to be seen, and an opening to the adlice software info page about POMs. I am attaching a screen shot though I think you may not need it. Firefox is acting unusual. The flashing happens when using firefox. It freezes up often, for 30 seconds or more, before sometimes quitting, but more often just going on. Kevin Zoll 309
Download avz4.zip from here Unzip it to your desktop to a folder named avz4 Double click on AVZ.exe to run it. Run an update by clicking the Auto Update button on the Right of the Log window: Click Start to begin the update Note: If you receive an error message, chose a different source, then click Start again After the update, from the "File" menu, choose "Standard Scripts" Put a check next to item 2: Advanced System Analysis Click Execute selected scripts At the next prompt, click the OK button Let the scan run and click "OK" when the completion prompt pops up Now Close out of the Standard Scripts window, and exit AVZ Navigate to the avz4 folder and locate the folder LOG Inside the LOG folder you will find virusinfo_syscheck.htm, virusinfo_syscheck.htm and virusinfo_syscheck.zip Attach the Compressed file, virusinfo_syscheck.zip, to your next reply. Kevin Zoll 309
I'm not seeing any malware in the logs. However, I do see AVZ could not get file information several times. Let's try resetting some areas of Windows to there defaults. Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com to your desktop. Use the direct download link for the Portable version of Windows Repair by Tweaking.com This tool will need to be run in Safe Mode. Double-click tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip and extract the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder to your desktop. Now open this folder and double-click Repair_Windows.exe. Click the Repairs tab on the far right. Click the Start button (bottom right) Note: When asked if you would like to create a restore point. It is recommended just in-case something does not go as planned. Click Unselect All Put a checkmark in the following items:Reset Registry Permissions Reset File Permissions Register System Files Repair WMI Remove Policies Set By Infections Repair Volume Shadow Copy Service Repair Windows Sidebar/Gadgets Restore Important Windows Services Set Windows Services To Default Startup Note: Leave everything else unchecked Put a checkmark in Restart System When Finished Now click the Start button (bottom right) This may take some time to finish. After the system has restarted run AVZ again, and get a new log from it.

Kevin Zoll 309
Something is preventing AVZ from reading the file information of several Windows files. Since, you are running the free version of Avast Antivirus, uninstall it, restart the computer. Still having problems?
jeaniedeeb 0
As I uninstalled, a window popped up telling me that the emisoft and the avast are not compatible. I closed out and finished uninstalling using the revo pro uninstaller. I then ran the emisoft malware scanner. It found a threat and I quarantined it. I added the log in the case it has any value. I haven't noticed as yet, problems or not. I will give more time and then send an update. scan_151130-174512.txt
jeaniedeeb 0
Around 7 hours later, I feel there is improvement, yet am very skeptical. I haven't seen as many problems with firefox hanging/quitting, though I feel certain I saw a flash as though something wanted to open or change. I write that un-surely because at this point, I am weary. I am sure things were running better that they had been; youtube video, netflix, nut having to reload, which was prevalent previous to uninstalling avast.

jeaniedeeb 0
Ran both. I am adding the reports. If it isn't too much trouble, could you explain, a bit, the processes completed? Things seem ok. I am just wondering if I am now having a separate problem with firefox. It is recommend to use chrome. I have not liked using chrome and deleted it. I have also been waiting to clean out problems before I upgrade to windows 10. Friends are insisting I switch to linux, but that will pose different problems for me. The worst thing about all of this, is that I wasn't even attempting to download anything cool. jeaniedeeb 0
Okay, 5-ish hours later and I am still definitely seeing flashes of things that look like they are trying to open but do not. Kevin Zoll 309
Many of the removal tools I am having you use target the same stuff, but use different detection and removal methods. What one fails to detect or remove the other tool general takes care of. Your logs for the most part look good. However, you are still experiencing problems. So, something is still amiss with the system. Let's take a fresh look. Run fresh scans with Emsisoft Emergency Kit (EEK) and FRST, attach the new EEK and FRST scans to your reply. jeaniedeeb 0
New scans attached.
