I posted this topic before, but I can't seem to find it....still having the same problem when trying to run A2-Squared Malware..

"A major problem prevents application start.

Anti-Malware can't connect to the service application.

Please reboot PC and try again or contact support."

I have tried to reboot a dozen times and receive the same message

Hi mac.

Please provide more detailed information about your System Environment as in Forum Posting Rules #2)

Your previous request can be found here

... but that time it was Emsisoft A-M Suite, now you posted into "Free" section

Have you followed the advise given by Fabian Wosar?

What version you are using now?

Please state that in addition to the above required info

The requests can be merged unless you are using different edition now

Have you tried Clean uninstall procedure & then installing the latest Setup available for download?

Please answer those questions after providing the detailed info about your system

My regards

Sorry, guys, found the old topic and followed his advice. Uninstalled and re-installed and it seems to be working fine?

We are glad to hear that

... but why there is a question mark at the end ? :)

Cheers!

p.s. You still did not provide any info requested - that could be helpful for other users

I have Emsisoft Anti-Malware...I think the old one was v4.7...The last major update was quite large and crashed the whole program, thus the can't connect message. I followed the advice and uninstalled my old version, rebooted, then installed the link he gave me to v5.0. I now have Emsisoft v.5.0 installed.

The question mark was in reference to the fact, that the new version was in the midst of scanning, and did not know if would complete. It did, without finding anything, so it works quite well now.

Computer is an old HP Media Center type running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3 v 5.1.2, Platform, x86, Standard Windows Firewall.

This is the first time, I have had a problem with a major update crashing the program and not working.
