Automatic updates fail

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm experiencing more or less the same problems as JeremyNicoll in this topic. With the exception that even the manual update button does not work for me. Emsisoft Internet Security seems to constantly try to get updates, but is clearly failing to retrieve the update(s).

I've tried putting of the SSL encryption in the Privacy tab, without any success though.

Last succesful update was 30/4/16 9:39AM (UTC +2).

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Mako

Lets try getting a diagnostic log. Please download the following ZIP archive:

Emsisoft_Diagnostic_Batch_File.zip

When you open this ZIP archive, there will be a file inside called Emsisoft_Diagnostic. Just double click on that Emsisoft_Diagnostic file, and if a dialog pops up about the Windows Command Processor from Microsoft then please click the Yes button so that the diagnostic can continue.

Please note that it is possible for the Behavior Blocker in Emsisoft Anti-Malware/Emsisoft Internet Security to display an alert when the diagnostic starts. This is due to the way it requests administrator rights, and is normal. You can safely allow it to run.

When it's done, it will open a log in Notepad. Please save this log somewhere easy to find, such as on your Desktop or in your Documents folder, and then send it to me in a Private Message so that I can take a look at it.

Important: Don't post the log publicly. It contains a copy of your a2settings.ini file, which contains encrypted license information. If someone were to figure out how to break that encryption, then someone else could use your license key.

Hi GT500,

Thank you for your reply, and my apologies for the delay in mine!

Although the problem was lasting for a couple of days already, it seems like everything resolved itself. This morning EIS updated automatically to the latest version and everything is back fully protected.  :)

I read there were some other users experiencing similar issues, so perhaps it took a couple of days before the fix patch reached my computer? Would you like me to run the diagnostics report anyway? Maybe it contains useful information for you to find the cause of these problems? It's the same for me, since the issue seems resolved now.

Kind regards,

Mako

If you're not having problems anymore, then the diagnostic won't show anything relevant. If it happens, then go ahead and run the diagnostic and send me the log, otherwise you don't have to worry about it. ;)
