Yes, I posted the upgrade announcement

As for "should not close that thread" ... well that was just an announcement...

Please feel free saying whatever you wanna say here in the forum

...Seems blitzblank is included.

Yes blitzblank is included , but there are differences:

- the updated Free is v5.0.0.4 - "Emergency Kit"... currently;

- the "Emergency USB Stick Files" are still 4.5 even if you Update that...but the download will include BlitzbBlank as well

My regards

I found new version no longer detect malware in rar&zip files.

Hi Ray,

It seems like it steel does, but that was quickly tested as a Custom Scan

of a folder containing archives:

1_CustumArchive.jpg

At the same time scanning with Shell Extension will not produce the result

Can you confirm that?

I'll test a bit more later

My regards

Negative Boss.

I scan with shell extension but found nothing using default settings.I don't like to add *.rar or zip to extension filter.Maybe they think archives never represent theat?

"Negative" re: Explorer Integration that's what I'm having here as well with EEK 5.0.0.4 - that would be a confirmation, but

this statement I didn't get.

You can disable archives scanning (the default settings) when using Custom Scans

The question is: are you getting the detections during Custom Scans with defaults as in my example?

{added} if you mean that the files are physically renamed and do not have extensions (rar; zip, etc.) - that does not matter. The scanner does understand the format and the files will be unpacked & checked

Cheers!

p.s. EAM 5.0.0.61 beta doesn't have the described problem with Shell Extension scans of archives

I rename eicar_com.zip to eicar_com.exe and use shell menu to scan it still found nothing.

For Custom scan it found everyone

For shell scan found nothing no matter what file extension it has(I means renamed zip&rar file)

You mean "everything" ;)

Yes , as I said - renaming the archive to any name - will do nothing whatsoever! when the Shell Extension is used with this version.

(the software does not act upon the extensions - the format matters)

Only the Custom Scan of the archives are working fine.

just rename the archives like this

2_CustumArchivesRenamed.jpg 1 RAR & 2 ZIPs were there - Custom Scan will find all in that folder as in the example in my previous post

The Shell Extension though used against not archived files are working perfectly

My regards
