Greetings - lately every time EAM attempts installing a new app version, I get the following message, and EAM disables itself:

"A computer resource problem prevents EAM from loading essential protection components. Error Code= -2145452015"

I'm running the latest version of Win10. I have attached the logs you request as well as 2 screenshots.

Please advise.

Hi Zarkov,

Please let me know, if It helps:

1. Right-click on the Start button.
2. Select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
3. Type in sc delete epp and then press Enter on your keyboard.
4. Restart your computer by right-clicking on the Start button, going to Shut down or sign out, and selecting Restart.

Please download the following fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

fixlist.txt

NOTE: It's important that both files, the FRST download from earlier and the fixlist file, are in the same location or the fix will not work. If you need to, please copy the files from your Downloads folder to your desktop.

  • Run the FRST download from earlier, and press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs to restart your computer, please make sure you let the computer restart normally. After that let the tool complete anything it still needs to do.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog). Please attach it to a reply.

Edit: For reference, the error code -2145452015 is a Microsoft error code for debugging. In this case it means that there was a failure loading the EPP (Emsisoft Protection Platform) driver, caused by an incorrect version of the driver already existing on the computer. In this case that incorrect version of the driver was from an old version of Emsisoft Emergency Kit, and while the driver file was missing, it was still registered and thus it was blocking our EPP driver from loading. In this case the FRST fix just tells FRST to unregister the driver. It would also be possible to type sc delete epp64 in an elevated (running as Administrator) Command Prompt in a fashion similar to what Mikołaj recommended for the EPP driver, and then restart the computer (in the same way Mikołaj recommended, since Windows 10 doesn't actually fully shut down if you use the normal restart option, and the problem won't be fixed).

Mikolaj and Arthur, sorry for the slow reply, but Arthur's fix worked perfectly! Mikolaj, "sc delete epp" had no effect, but "sc delete epp64" did work along with the fixlist. Many thanks to both of you.

Regards,

Zarkov
