unable to remove Gen.Trojan!IK

Hi there..

I started using a-squared Anti-Malware and in the Quick Scan, it found 14 processes/objects infected with Gen.Trojan!IK. If I try to quarantine/delete the infected objects, the PC crashes!!

But, nothing happens when I try to 'Save Report'. Please advise the next steps. Thank you.

I am attaching the log file 'a-squared.db3' found under path C:\Program Files\a-squared Anti-Malware\Logs

Welcome to the forum

First, do not quarantine/delete anything after the scan

You have to attach the report of the Deep Scan by a-squared.

(See the reference to the instruction below)

The a-squared.db3 file is not what's required

Can you please be more specific about “nothing happens”, when you are trying to save report?

When scan is completed and you pressed <<Save report>> button under the results/detections list "Save report file as..." dialogue should be displayed.

Are you getting that dialogue?

If so, just save report under the default name. It will be saves in the text format.

the default location is under "...\My Documents\a-squared Free\Reports"

Hi murali_krishna_b,

Please read the instruction carefully.

If you encounter lines in your a-squared log, that are similar to the below:...

and those lines are similar...

So, download and run Win32kDiag.

Save and attach the log created by Win32kDiag.

If you will be able to run and save a-squared report after that, please post it as well.

If not, just sate that you were still unable to do so.

After that please stop anyway, as per instruction and wait for the response from the malware fighter

Open notepad

Copy and Paste the below lines of code to notepad:

@echo off
copy C:\Windows\System32\logevent.dll c:\logevent.dll

Go to File > save as and name the file fixes.bat, change the Save as type to all files and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on fixes.bat to execute it.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Download Avenger from -->> HERE <<-- and unzip to your desktop.

  • Run Avenger
  • Read the prompt that appears, and press OK
  • Copy & paste the following text in Input script Box:
    Files to delete:
    C:\Windows\System32\cngaudit.dll
    
    Files to move:
    C:\logevent.dll | C:\Windows\System32\cngaudit.dll


    Then click "Execute".

  • You will be presented with 2 confirmation prompts. Select yes on each. Your system will reboot.
    Note: It is possible that Avenger will reboot your system TWICE.
  • Upon reboot, a command prompt window will appear on your screen for a few seconds, and then Avenger's log will open. Please paste that log here in your next post.

Go to start > run and copy and paste the following command in the field:

"%userprofile%\desktop\win32kdiag.exe" -f -r

This should restore permissions on locked files and remove mountpoints.

  • Win32kDiag (C:\avenger.txt)
  • a-squared Free

The installed version of Java on this computer is out-dated. Install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u16 available from Sun Microsystems.
