Entering a product key when License shows Free 30 day Trial Version

Recommended Posts

Lets try getting a diagnostic log. You can find the instructions and download at this link.

When it's done, it will open a log in Notepad (as explained in the instructions). Please save this log somewhere easy to find, such as on your Desktop or in your Documents folder, and then send it to me in a Private Message so that I can take a look at it.

Important: Don't post the log publicly. It contains a copy of your a2settings.ini file, which contains encrypted license information. If someone were to figure out how to break that encryption, then someone else could use your license key.

I just tried to do this same thing on a fresh install and all I get is the ability to go to the website and buy a key.  No choice to add my own licenses.

I think what @Simply_Me says is that there is no option to actually enter the licence key. There is only one button (Buy Now) and no "Enter Licence Key" button that used to exist. I have just installed a trial to a customer of mine, activated the trial until I buy a key for her and I cannot see the button to enter the key. There used to be one... Version 2017.3.0.7336.

Regards,

Cube.

We are experiencing that same problem. i.e. we installed a trial version, then later purchased a license, but where I have previously located the section to enter the new serial key is no longer where it has been in the past. So where can I enter the new key that I purchased?

Please advise, thanks, Jason F.

Hello and thank you for your feedback.

Please excuse the circumstances, this is a known problem and we are going to issue an update with a fix applied as soon as possible.

As a temporary solution please navigate to the install folder of our security product and double click the file "a2wizard.exe" located there.

This should open a window where you can choose to enter your license key.

The "install folder" should be something like one of the following:

  • C:\Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Emsisoft Anti-Malware

Hi Cube,

Sorry that I've missed to announce it here, but we've already released a hotfix on 4th of April, 2017 to bring the "Enter license key" button back.

With version 2017.3.1 installed you should already find the button under "Settings" -> "License" again.
