EAM 2017.7 notification duration bug

Recommended Posts

EAM 2017.7 on Windows 7 HomePremium x64 SP1.

1) Change any value to be greater than 1000 and close GUI or just change active tab.

Go back to the settings....max values are reverted to 999.

2) For "Removable device connections" you can not enter 4th digit.

In case this is by design I think it would be good to put that limitation in Info.

That's 16+ minutes. Aside from people entering numbers just to see if they would work, would anyone actually need a notification to display longer than 16 minutes?

A user might want a notification to remain on-screen until they see and dismiss it, and might not be in front of their computer when one is created.

Exactly! :)

That's why we log everything that gets displayed in notifications. ;)

I'm never going to argue against logging - often running all sorts of programs with full logging on all the time - but a notification tells you something just happened whereas a log entry is only useful once you suspect something might have happened.

I would like to hear from the devs is this intended behavior or some kind of a glitch/bug.

I can ask Frank about it, but you can talk to Frank about this yourself if you want. ;)

Did anyone try the typical default "forever" value of 0 ?

It will immediately revert to '1' if you try to input a zero by itself.

hi guys,

the value range lies between 1 and 999 seconds.

the values are checked when the field looses its focus.

I can confirm that things can be improved here a bit, so we'll consider your input for the future product planning.

Thanks, Frank!

IMHO the easiest way to fix it is to put that limitation in Info description and allow max. 3 digits for input.

Hmm, I dunno about "best".  I've never liked the way that notifications fade from view.  I'd prefer them (or at least some sorts of them) to stay until I've seen them.
