Second time this has happened. Malware scan.

\Windows\System32\Drivers

wudfrd.sys Sunday

wof.sys Today

Only way to get out of the scan is to reboot, stop and pause doesn't seem to work. Only on this HP laptop to make this more strange.

Ideas ?

Thanks

I switch between two laptops and the DEll doesn't have this happen.

Updates in Emsisoft Anti-Malware happen at 1 hour intervals (by default) starting at the time you turn your computer on, or resume from sleep or hibernate mode, or 60 minutes from the last update if one was run manually, so they won't happen "on the hour" most of the time. I'm not certain if Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or Malwarebytes 3 handles update schedules differently, so it's possible that their software will run updates "on the hour" with their default update schedule (assuming you have a premium license key).

As for the issue at hand, let's try getting a log from FRST, and see if it shows the cause of the issue. You can find instructions for downloading and running FRST at the following link:

Nothing looks wrong in the logs. It may just be a case of other security software slowing down the Emsisoft Anti-Malware scanning process, or perhaps filesystem issues cause read errors. If it happens again, you can try adding the Emsisoft Anti-Malware folder to the exclusions in your other security software (Malwarebytes 3, SUPERAntiSpyware, and WinPatrol). That folder should be as follows:

  • C:\Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware
