Are Microsoft updates for this sufficient for windows 7 and windows 10? It seems that only Windows 10 has a patch for variant 2 ?

I have read that a firmware update (AMD) is required?

So much out there on this to dig through

Hi,

Till now, you are protected with emsisoft with bitdefender leading antimalware engine against meltdown and spectre vulnerabilities.

As far as I know intel and amd have issued update regarding these vulnerabilities which are automatically downloaded from windows update.

Talking about AMD - below is the write up by AMD:

Well it seems true that patch 2 variant is not available for windows 7 till now as far as I checked over the internet.

Well then we are only left with the below options:

* Update your operating system (Windows Update)

* Check for firmware updates (Update drivers from manufacturer website)

* Update your browser

* Update other software (3rd party software)

* Keep your antivirus active (MOST IMPORTANT)

Also Software company Ashampoo have created tool to check for Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability.
