Was this just a rename or was some new functionality added?

If it is still intended to be used for when gaming, I think the new name is not intuitive.

.

  • Renamed Game Mode to Silent Mode.

There were lots of questions on the forum from people wondering why their copy of EAM kept going into "Game mode" (as shown in the forensics log) when they were not playing games.  Calling it "Silent mode" might stop all those questions since it describes what EAM does - stay silient and not interrupt full-screen activity - without suggesting that only happens for game players.

For a game player deliberately entering Silent mode, maybe the GUI label on the option should be changed from "Silent mode" to "Silent mode eg for games"?

It was just a rename. The functionality is the same as before.

Game Mode was triggered by any fullscreen application, and as Jeremy mentioned a lot of people were confused by EAM entering Game Mode when they were not playing games. Since all Game Mode did was essentially silence EAM to prevent it from interfering with games, renaming it to Silent Mode seemed like it would more accurately describe what the feature did and would help to alleviate the confusion about whether or not it was only for games.
