Reggia99 2
I have an external hard drive infected by the ransomware and I believe the re-encrypting program is still on it, how do I get rid of it without infecting my free laptop? Please bear in mind that I have the EEK, adwcleaner, on the PC now. Is it safe for me to connect it to my laptop and scan with the EEK? or what would you advise? Kevin Zoll 309
Yes, you should connect the external hard drive and scan it with EEK. Whenever connecting an external drive that is suspected of being infected you also run the risk of reinfecting your system.
Reggia99 2
So should I still go ahead to scan it? I believe you could help out in case of re infection
Kevin Zoll 309
Yes, go ahead and scan them and if there is something there or the computer gets infected, I will help you clean it up.

I believe you could help out in case of re infection It will only reinfect the system if you manually execute it. As long as you don't do that, connecting the drive to scan it is safe.
