External hard drive infected by BTOS ransomware

Recommended Posts

My external hard drive got infected by BTOS ransonmware. I cannot identify if it uses offline/online key. I noticed that some files were skipped (not infected) but majority of my files are. I believe I have removed the ransomware. I'm using McAfee (found and quarantined virus) and run another cycle of testing with Emisoft (no virus found).

What will be the next step for me? What are the changes I can retrieve those files?

Thank you!

Hello @btosinfected2020,

Welcome to the Emsisoft Support Forums.

What is the ID that our decryption tool identified?  If it is an Online ID then we are not able of decrypt the files as we are not in possession of online encryption keys.
