a2 freeware alert re trojan

Recommended Posts

I originally got an alert that said that a squared free was unable to remove a trojan and I came here. When I tried to rerun a squared (along with the other software) as per your instructions, I got an error message and it would not run. I ended up deleting it and reinstalling a squared free, which then ran OK. I also got an error message on HiJackFree, but the log seemed to be OK. Attached are my three log/txt files per your instructions. Thanks for your help.

Hi Watcher19, and welcome to the forum.

The attached a-squared report shows cookies only.

Cookies are harmless, they are not malicious and are not representing any danger.

Basically they should be cleaned before running the scan.

If you have items quarantined when you attempted to quarantine as you described,

you can use "Save quarantine list" link and attach that report as well

Please give a brief description of problems and system's misbehaviour you are experiencing.

Can you be more specific about those messages?

My regards

Sorry, I thought it had to be the one I ran after I ran the other software today. The error message was along the lines of a squared free has encountered an error and needs to shut down. There was then a drop-down box for me to send the error to EMSI which I clicked on, but I don't know if you received it. I could never get a squared free to run after that first time (I kept getting the same need to shut down message), so I deleted it and reinstalled it. I have attached the a squared report with the trojan listing. I was not able to quarantine or delete the trojan (per the original message from a squared, which had a link that sent me here.)

The Hijackfree problem occurred after I hit the save Hijackfree.log. It gave me the choice to continue or to stop. I have attached the bugreport from hijackfree.

Now it can be seen what was flagged by a-squared compare to your 1st report

[1820] C:\Program Files\comcasttb\ComcastSpywareScan\ComcastAntiSpyService.exe	Quarantined Trojan-Dropper.Delf!IK
C:\Program Files\support.com\temp\ComcastToolbar.exe/ComcastAntiSpyService.exe	Quarantined Trojan-Dropper.Delf!IK

despite you should not attempt to quarantine/delete as it's stated in the instruction, but just produce the report

Please wait for the response from ShadowPuterDude

My regards

P.S. As for the a-squared programs crashes if that will happen later please send the reports to EMSI developers

These are False Positive detections.

C:\Program Files\support.com\temp\ComcastToolbar.exe/ComcastAntiSpyService.exe detected: Trojan-Dropper.Delf!IK
C:\Program Files\support.com\temp\ComcastToolbar.exe/langv5.dat detected: Trojan-Dropper.Delf!IK

Submit to EMSI Software as False Positive detections.
