stegottl 0
Hello, I am not very familiar with these forums, but I noticed that another user (thread closed for lack of response) seemed to have a similar problem as I have. I have a browser redirect virus/malware and I am unable to get rid of it. I used everything I could think of (Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,CCleaner, Microsoft Securities Essentials,ATF-Cleaner, tdsskiller,SUPERAntiSpyware, Kaspersky virus removal tool, and others) but still no results. Are you familiar with this malware? And if yes, do you have any advice to get rid of it? Please find bellow and attached my 3 EEK scan reports as well and the 2 OTL scan report (OTL and Extra) Sincerely, Stephen Edited June 3, 2011 by ShadowPuterDude Inline logs removed
stegottl 0
I forgot to add that I just enabled Emsisoft anti-malware surf protection and it detects the redirects (unlike all my other protection software) to the unwanted sites (such as 7search.com) and prevents them from opening. stegottl 0
Hi, Thank you for your quick response and for your help. I copy/pasted the text and clicked Run fix. Soon after my computer rebooted. Just wondering, for the new log, since none were produced, do you want me to run a scan?
Kevin Zoll 309
Yes, run a new scan, since OTL did not produce a new log.

stegottl 0
Attach all logs, unless specifically asked to do otherwise. How are things running? I still have the same malware problem unfortunately. I tried to upload the other files that were created after the I first ran the fix (computer;C;_OTL_movedfiles) but I could not upload them. I will perform the same scan I did the first time and check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check and them upload OTL.txt and Extra.txt. Thank you!
stegottl 0
Hi, I ran a OTL scan with LOP and Purety check. There was just one report that I attached. I cheked in the OTL file and did a search for the Extras.txt file but was unable to find one. Do you need another file? Stephen
Kevin Zoll 309
Download ComboFix from one of these locations: Save as Combo-Fix.exe during the download. ComboFix must be renamed before you download to your Desktop Link 1 Link 2 * IMPORTANT !!! Save Combo-Fix to your Desktop Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our toolsSee HERE for help Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. **Please note: (This applies to Windows XP systems only) If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message: Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, ComboFix will produce a log. Note: 1. Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall! 2. Remember to re-enable your anti-virus and anti-spyware before reconnecting to the Internet. Attach logs for: ComboFix (C:\combofix.txt) Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now! stegottl 0
Hi, I ran the program as explained and attached the log to this message. It's wonderful, I do not appear to be redirected!! Emsisoft occasuonally still detects connection attempts to the suspicious host such as bs.serving-sys.com, static.chartbeat.com, Maybe this is normal since I just installed emsisof a few days ago. If the malware (if a malware was indeed the problem) is permanently removed, do you think there was a risk concerning the passwords I used online? Should I change them? Sincerely, Stephen
stegottl 0
And I was also wondering if I can remove the Qoobox file which was created?
Kevin Zoll 309
No do not delete the Qoobox folder, it is where ComboFix stores the backup of what it removes. EAM is blocking bs.serving-sys.com & static.chartbeat.com, which are ad networks that, in the past, have been observed engaging in risky behavior. Now we need to use ComboFix to remove some stuff. Make sure that the copy of combofix.exe that you downloaded earlier is on your Desktop but Do not run it! If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work. Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ): KillAll:: File:: c:\windows\system32\drivers\63830343.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers\38967972.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers\3896797.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers\38967971.sys Driver:: 38967972 38967971 setup_9.0.0.722_02.06.2011_00-59drv Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing! You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop. Now use your mouse to drag CFScript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe Follow the prompts. When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt I will ask for this log below Note: DO NOT mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall. The ComboFix folder should not be renamed since ComboFix and even we would have suspicions about it. Also when you uninstall CF, the folder would not be removed since it does not look for that folder name. Attach logs for: ComboFix (C:\combofix.txt) Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now! stegottl 0
Hi, I asked the question about the adnetworks because it makes it even when simply going on hotmail.com (rmd.atdmt.com is blocked) or searching on google without opening any links. II had to download combofik (which I renamed again combofixer and put on the desktop) because when I had reactivated my antivirus it go rid of it. I attached the log bellow. I had to restart my computer manually after the combofix process because no application would launch. It said registy key inadmissable on all of then (words, firefox, anyting) I deleted the combofix file since EAM would have got rid of it again.
Kevin Zoll 309
Surf Protection is blocking ad servers that in the past have shown behavior that would put a system at risk. You can disable Surf protection if you do not desire to use it. Your log looks fine. How are things running?
