Download.com could be adding additonal spyware on downloads?

Recommended Posts

When I went to download the free version of OA from Download.com NOD32 flashed up the attached warning about the download. Seems Download.com is adding apps to a variety of downloads.

Download.com decided recently to bundle applications they offer for download with a "secure installer" that contains a toolbar. That is what gets detected by NOD32. I am not sure if there is some kind of "vendor opt-out" but we will at least try to get them to drop it for our products.

Since you are a Wilders user you may want to take a look here as well:

Ok thanks for the Wilders thread link. Perhaps its best to move OA to another download site? Users may stay away from Download.com because of this crap being inserted into downloads even though your app may be clean.

Thanks for the heads up

I'm adding download.com to Host Rules in EAM: Block and notify.

Fortunately I usually use Softpedia for my downloads so I'm safe ;)
