Error with Emsisoft

Recommended Posts

I think I had a virus of some kind and so I restored my pc to an earlier date (like 4 or 5 days ago). Suddenly Emsisoft (which I had uninstalled) was restored. It shut off my Norton 360 somehow and I had to remove it from my start up list. I tried to uninstall it but it keeps saying something about unin000.exe is missing. I don't know what to do.

I have the freeware version, windows 7 (64 bit).

Please don't think I dislike this product. I actually like it very much. But I have Norton 360 paid for another 100+ days so I can't use it at the moment. I only want to uninstall (or delete) this program because I still have Norton.

Please help me remove emsisoft and it's files.

I also have a suspicion that the virus I may have had may have infected it, which is why it was causing my Norton to stop working.

Please help me remove this. Thank you so much and sorry for any confusion.

NJRCorey,

If a normal uninstall of Emsisoft Anti-Malware is not possible, use the emsiclean program.

Download the file and run it.

Once Emsisoft Anti-Malware is uninstalled and you don't want to install it again till your Norton license expires, you can always use the Emsisoft Emergency Kit scanner to scan your system. The Emsisoft Emergency Kit doesn't install anything on your system.

Wait so can I use Emsisoft Emergency Kit as just a scanner, like MBAM? Because I do like Emsisoft, I just can't have two active anti-viruses at the same time. But if it's just a scanning tool, I can use that right?

Hey CtrlAltDelete, EmsiClean tells me I should get support before using it. I'll type all of the things it wants me to delete, can you let me know if deleting them will be safe?

a2acc (C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2accx64.sys

a2antimalware (C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2service.exe

a2dda (C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2ddaax64.sys

a2injectiondriver (C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2dix64.sys

a2util (C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2util64.sys

(C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2contmenu.dll

(C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\a2contmenu64.dll

Emsisoft AntiMalware Uninstall (6.0 and newer)

Emsisoft File Gaurd Driver Configuration

Emsisoft Injection Driver Configuration

and the next one is the folder, but emsiclean has it unchecked for some reason? Should I check it?

(C:\Program Files (x86) \Emsisoft AntiMalware\

It worked quickly and easily. Thank you so much, Christian Peters and CtrlAltDelete! If there is a way I can help you guys out, let me know. I know some sites have surveys for the experience and everything.

Yes, the Emsisoft Emergency Kit scanner is used as an on-demand scanner. Nothing will be installed on your system. Just unzip the download in a new folder or on a USB stick (it's fully portable) and run a scan whenever you want to check if anything was missed by the other security you're using. The Emsisoft Emergency Kit also contains other tools to manually check for and remove malware.
