Why SBCMAUT.EXE a trojan?

Recommended Posts

Why would SBCMAUT.EXE be classified as a trojan?

It's from Microsoft Office Small Business

Tools, Small Business Customer Manager Automation.

I doubt that this file is created by anyone

other than Microsoft. Is it a Microsoft

trojan?

FudgePickle,

Please read my reply in your other thread and submit the flagged file as suggested in #2 there

Then wait for an update and rescan

You don't need Deep Scan all the time – use Custom scan of the folder where file resides.

Leave all options “as is” that would be the deep scan of the chosen area

My regards

P.S.

...I doubt that this file is created by anyone other than Microsoft. Is it a Microsoft trojan?

Yes we may doubt that, but we should never forget that any file including System vital files could be compromised by 3rd party infection... so we need to investigate

{added} usually the file resides in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\SBT\SBCM directory and it belongs to Contact Manager. Not much description you can find about SBCMAUT.EXE file itself, but since “contact management capabilities” that could be quite understandable why this file is periodically flagged by many different security as a Trojan even if that's legit and clean file.

Just Google and you'll find many questions re: flagging of the said file as a Trojan

In most cases the False Positive detections were confirmed,... but you can find references to illegal Office downloads as well, if the latter - you can expect anything ;) ...
