Hijack Free labels Internet Explorer 8 process as malware !

Recommended Posts

Whenever I use Internet Explorer 8 and scan the active processes with Hijack free (ver. a red line covers the Internet Explorer 8 process. Using the quick scan with EEK and quick scan with Malwarebytes free shows no active malware. Does the red line marks the IE8 process as malware because of expired digital signature or is it a false positive ?

The reason why the file was flagged is usually recorded in the details window below. So just scroll down a bit and you will find the reason there. My guess is, iexplore.exe as name is bastardized by a ton of malware and combined with the expired signature is the reason it shows up there.
